Helping to make Internet more secure by using https everywere, we're now using free certs for https://linuxtv.org provided by Let's Encrypt. If you want to know more and how this was done, I wrote an article at the Samsung's OSG blog about that:

https://t.co/aommrU5Lnc
The usage of https has been so far somewhat restricted on open source projects, because of the cost of acquiring and maintaining certificates. As a result of this and the need to improve Internet security, several projects are working on providing free valid certificates. Among those projects, Let’s Encript launched a public beta last week on December, 3 2015. The Let’s Encrypt Approach Let’s Encrypt is a Linux Foundation Collaborative project th...

For those going to Shenzhen for the Tizen Developer Conference (TDC), I'll be giving a talk there on Friday, 18 11:30am – 12:10pm. Hoping to see you there:

Bringing Tizen to a Raspberry PI 2 Near You!/将Tizen带到你附近的Raspberry PI2
Mauro Carvalho Chehab
Location: Grand Ballroom/分会场1
Track: IoT&Wearables / 物联网&可穿戴设备

The Raspberry Pi and Tizen are both turning out to be valuable tools in the growing market for the Internet of Things, and Tizen's improved support for low-power, low-memory devices makes it an ideal candidate to be run on an RPI. This talk will cover the process it took to get Tizen up and running on a Raspberry Pi 2 and teach the audience how to set it up themselves. In addition, it will discuss the technical hurdles that were overcome to create the Tizen port for the Raspberry Pi 2 and where this work will head in the future. Tizen and the Raspberry Pi are positioned to be important players within the growing IoT ecosystem, and they each can offer a lot of value to the other. This talk will help attendees understand what it takes to begin developing IoT apps using these platforms.

Games enable developers to see what potential can hardware, software, and platforms can do. The game app market is also a main source of profit for some 3rd party companies. In this session, the basics of Game Development using Tizen will be discussed. This would also include Game Porting ...

Kaffeine is a media player application that uses the KDE libraries. As part of my work maintaining the Linux Kernel media subsystem I needed some tools to test whether or not the digital TV core support works properly and to test Linux drivers for new devices. So, I’ve recently been working to improve Kaffeine to offer the necessary features for such tests. As part of this, I recently created a major Kaffeine version (2.0) that uses the latest ve...

Good to know that qemu 3D accel is founding its way upstream

virgl 3d driver is merged to mesa now, the kernel 3D bits are queued in drm-next, and qemu master has support for virgl under qemu/gtk interface.

The qemu/sdl support is lined up, but the bit that makes it really useful for things in Fedora will be when the spice/egl and then libvirt bits land, I'm crossing my fingers that +Gerd Hoffmann and +Marc-André Lureau can make that happen before the next qemu release.
virgl is the 3D acceleration backend for the virtio-gpu shipping with qemu. The 3D acceleration is designed around gallium and TGSI as the virtualisation layer. The backend renderer translates the virgl interface into OpenGL currently. This is the initial import of the driver to mesa.
