Hill Country honors the barbecue and live music capital of Texas and takes its "cue" from the legendary meat-markets-turned-barbecue-joints of Central Texas with their distinctive, dry-rub style.

Oh my, this place is off the hook.... All you can eat Monday night for $27 soooooooooo good!! mac and cheese, greens, corn bread, green bean casserole, turkey, chicken, ribs, brisket... to much to name!! only 1 complaint - only 1 bbq sauce to offer and it was peach flavored - it was terrible.. bring your own bbq if they still have this bbq.... I can't believe they only had 1 flavor!!

Can be hit or miss with the brisket. A fun spot overall with good food and drinks

What a fantastic, memorable experience we've been raving on about ever since! Brisket on the bone - you tell them which piece and how large! Fresh farm food/ ingredients. Mac and cheese is delectable but a meal all in itself. Steamed kale was fab. So was the homemade lemonade. Want to go back now!

I was not impressed by the food personally. May be that I work in the culinary industry or that I love to BBQ at home. But the food was ok at best. I smelled it blocks away after I left I woulda settled for a burger and fries

I was not impressed by the food personally. May be that I grew up in Austin TX, The Hill Country, and basically tasted world class BBQ all though my teenage years. But the food was ok at best. I smelled it blocks away after I left I would've settled for a burger and fries from Fuddruckers. Oh and no potato salad!?!?! Come on.

One of my favorite places to eat in DC. The brisket and the short rib are particularly good. Happy hour drink specials are great too.

As much as I want to believe, DC seems to keep failing at producing a BBQ joint that really blows me away. The food here is decent, no major issues here -- you go in line cafeteria style and they slice you up a meat shank to order. While the portions are decent, the quality is meh. The meat isn't overly flavorful and you are expected to slather it in bbq sauce yourself. Sides are equally un-astounding. Now that I have ragged on the food -- lets talk about the bar, downstairs is a decent dance space in which hill country hosts various acts throughout the week. Beer flows, music plays, making this a great location for a night out with friends. My recommendation: eat here with low expectations then stay for the drinks and music -- you could make worse decisions in chinatown.
