Menu
New Moon Cooperative Cafe is a worker-owned, collectively-managed restaurant. This means that everyone who works there (the servers, cooks, and dishwashers) is a part-owner and helps to operate the restaurant! The non-hierarchical & consensus-based collective is divided into four committees: food, financial, operations, and outreach. Since buying the restaurant in August 2013, we continue to serve great food to the community with excellent service and a more meaningful structure.

Good food, efficient but not always polite service, dirty facility. I was very skeptical when we arrived and a server simply nodded in the direction of an empty table, and then proceeded to ignore us for five minutes. I also needed to use the restroom, and it appeared at first that there was no restroom for customers. However, once they decided to serve us, the service was good, though not terribly friendly. The food was excellent, and the reason for the abrupt service quickly became apparent; this is a popular, yet understaffed restaurant. The small size would make adding staff difficult, as the two servers barely had room to get around between the tables. There is a bathroom in the back, but you literally have to walk through the kitchen, where at least you can observe that they do appear to follow good food safety procedures, although it is a rather disorganized and cluttered kitchen. Although creative, nothing on the menu jumped out at me, and a lot of it simply sounded weird rather than interesting. Fortunately, they had a build-your-own omelet option, and it was delicious. This place embodies everything I don't like about Olympia, right down to the homeless people out front who turn out not to be homeless at all, but rather just waiting for the next available table, and the obligatory "Black Lives Matter" sign in the window (as if anyone who would go to a place like this would disagree). Bottom line: I will come back and probably enjoy it more the second time now that my expectations have been appropriately lowered.

Culinary highlight of our Washington vacation! Rosemary potatoes were the best breakfast spuds I've enjoyed. Hash browns (yes, I ate off my wife's meal as well) were knockout. Pancakes were light with a crisp edge and the coffee was so good, and I don't tolerate bad coffee. Helpful staff and pleasant music as background. Gotta get me one of these closer to home!

Great atmosphere; good, local, fresh food; friendly staff; wonderful runny home made blackberry jam to drizzle on your bread; constantly changing gallery of local art. Very small and cramped but worth it. Each table has a well worn notebook full of former customers' comments and musings for your entertainment while you wait for your food.

I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always great. They are always busy at breakfrast so come early. Omlets are awesome and the kids love the blackberry sauce. Read and write in the table book , and enjoy the local wall art. You will leave nothing on your plate.
