It is as good as its reputation. It's the very first time for me in my whole life eating chicken without worrying about messing up my teeth, because I chewed to quickly and accidentally biting on a little piece of chicken bone or so. I'm sure everyone had that experience with fragile chicken bones. At Savoy I could enjoy the soft, perfect chicken meat to the fullest. NO BONES AT ALL. Seriously this is my first time. Savoy deserve its great reputation. The price around $10 after everything is acceptable and I'd recommend everyone to come here and tried it at least once.

As the many other yelp reviews suggest, I believe savoy kitchen lives up to its 4-star overall rating. Definitely not the best Hainan chicken I've ever had, but I say with certainty that it lives near the top of my personal list. My ratings tend encompass the restaurant as a whole, so while I wish I had the time or appetite for some of their pizza and other italian fare (I know, right?) this really comes down to the chicken and the service. Chicken comes with 3 sauces, but I mostly used the soy sauce. Not that the ginger or radioactively orange sauces were unsuitable - it was mostly due to the fact I think they laced their soy sauce with crack. White meat, dark didn't matter, the chicken was tender and moist. On the other hand, the rice that came with the chicken was the weak point. The flavors of chicken broth and other seasoning didn't call out to me, the way i expected it to. It was as if the rice was the single piccolo, washed out by the rest of the orchestra that was the chicken. Service here was very quick and no-nonsense. It's the kind of service that you expect from a chinese owned establishment, but they accomplished this all while smiling a lot more than I'm used to as well. Overall, this place is not a homerun, but I did wish there was something like this near me (I would never wish to live in LA - you guys can't drive for shit!) so I could get my dose of Hainan chicken more often.

HOME OF THE HAINAN CHICKEN. Savoy Kitchen = Hainan Chicken, pretty much. It's the most popular dish to get there and if you're here, there's really no reason for you not to get it. People prefer dark meat but I think their white meat is just as good and you don't have to pay more. BUT if you get the dark meat, you do get more quantity of meat. I only get the hainan chicken rice. It usually comes out pretty fast, within 5-10 minutes. Then I cover that stuff in the ginger sauce and eat away! Don't be shy about asking for more sauce, because they have plenty! CASH ONLY. It's a small restaurant with more seating outdoor than indoor. Don't forget to put your name on the clipboard outside of the restaurant, next to the front door if there's a wait.

I ordered the Chrysanthemum Tea (cold), Chicken Broth, and Hainan Chicken with Rice. The waiter took our order and next thing I knew the food came; I was surprised at how fast the food was ready. We also got warm bread with our meal. ~Food~ First the Chicken Broth arrived. It was warm and had so much chicken flavor. Then the Hainan Chicken , it came with rice that is steamed in chicken broth ( I wish they served brown rice) and three different kinds of sauce; ginger, chili and soy sauce. The chicken was sliced into long pieces, it was tender and moist. My favorite sauce for the Hainan Chicken is the ginger. The Chrysanthemum Tea was very refreshing. It was light and sweet with a slight herbal after taste. I wanted more but unfortunately they don't give refills. ~Customer Service~ The staff is efficient and fast. ~Highlight~ I love the Chrysanthemum Tea! When you order the Hainan Chicken, I suggest ordering the Chicken Broth. Pouring the chicken broth over the rice and/or the Hainan Chicken is delicious. Taking sips of the broth while eating the Hainan Chicken is also a tasty option. ~Notes~ ~Cash Only ~Parking is on the streets (it's hard to find parking)

My beloved Savoy. I been going here for years but only today decided to write a review. The reason I didn't get it a 5 star is because with the increase popularity, the portions did get smaller and maybe a bit less in quality. I still love it though. The service is fast and as a usual, I think I get treated pretty good there. Warning though about the lunch time and dinner time rush as it could be a 30 minute wait and be a bit crowded. I always get their famed hainam chicken where the rice is cooked in an amazing chicken based broth. The chicken is really tender as well so I always come back. If you just want a taste, that 2:30pm-4;30pm is usually pretty easy going there.
