Obviously I understand that i'm here sitting in my room, and not under the considerable stress situation of the pilot/passengers, and I'm also not fully aware of the security systems at the time for this particular aircraft. But, given that the hijackers were constantly leaving the cockpit, could the pilot not lock himself in the cockpit and attempt the landing? Would it not be the equivalent of risking death by axe after having made the announcements to the passengers about the crash landing/overthrowing the hi-jackers? Also, such announcement could inevitable lead the detonation of the bomb as passengers attempt to overthrow them?
In all, the actions made by the pilot were amazing and he honestly did what he could do in that situation.
