Excerpt from personal communication between myxepp and AyayayYyyev, 01/25/16 19:03:58:

Pavel IESPB:
Do you have more keys from Chukotka?

AyayayYyyev:
Still have some.

So that's how it all started. We had to toss links Kirovsk - Surgut - Anadyr. After Pavel put this idea on the table, some time passed in slow preparations like checking details, everyone watching blockers, preparing portals. The big job started one day before the X hour, and open blockers removal started just a few hours before linking.

It didn't all go smoothly - there were links from Severomorsk getting in the way, and agent @Schtalz went to remove them. He needed to ADA two portals when he only had 2% charge in his scanner, and some odd glitch caused him to backtrack to one of these to ADA it again, as first attempt has failed. As the agent himself put it, "Didn't dash so fast in forever."
The unfortunate blocker got dropped on last scraps of power, then communication with Schtalz was lost. But he is ok - he surfaced later and told these details.

People in Surgut had some fun too: A field over Surgut blocking the operation was taken down by vpeg (RES Surgut) about two hours before linking. At some point, folks decided to gamble by leaving last blockers to get stripped by this same RES agent - and won the jackpot.
(I always said that tru Resists serve the Enligtenment.)
Counting on RES, the team came to the link anchor where @overstar (who came from Khanty-Mansiysk for that) was already waiting for them and the action started!

When blockers went down, first two links Surgut - Anadyr and Surgut - Kirovs were already in place and portals were already modded. So the time for the first field has come! Link Kirovsk - Anadyr got placed and first field got into Intel. Hooray! First field was the most difficult, after that everything was in a haze - link, another link, field! There were 5 green fields placed, 460 kMU each. Total MUs: 2 306 737. 4 layers got into the checkpoint.

All participants, numbers and pictures:

myxepp - idea

The highest-energy collisions ever seen at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are now producing data for science.

Teams at CERN, Europe's particle-physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland, have spent two years upgrading what was already the world’s most powerful particle accelerator. At 10.40 local time this morning (3 June), they officially set the newly supercharged collider running.

Next week, the LHC experiments will start taking the first physics data from the LHC's second run.

Find out how the four larger experiments ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb used the long shutdown to upgrade their detectors for collisions the record-breaking collision energy of 13 teraelectronvolts (TeV).

People around the world are searching for ways to help #Nepal, as shown in this chart of searches for ‘Nepal’ and ‘help’ in various languages in the earthquake’s aftermath. For our part, we’ve launched Person Finder to help people find family and friends affected by the disaster, and we’ve made calls to Nepal from anywhere in the world 1¢/min (normally 19¢/min) to help people connect. We chose 1¢/min, instead of making calls free, to prevent spammers abusing the offer and adding more load to the already stretched Nepalese telephone network. More info at: goo.gl/EqocGu
