Loved this!
Watched Last Week Tonight with John Oliver 's take on #MLM / #NetworkMarketing / #DirectSelling? Funny? Yes. Unbiased? Nope. In fact, being a John Oliver fan, I was bit disappointed and found the video quite misleading and confusing.

I analyzed and shared my views in MLM Eye Opener - Direct Selling / Network Marketing School, mentioning where I agreed with John and where I didn't.

But this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJEM7GcNRo8 by Patrick Bet-David totally nailed it!

Patrick shared the whole truth - the goods and the bads - both sides. In his video and the supporting PDF, he has given enough information for anyone to actually understand MLM and differentiate it from scams & schemes.

Loved it so much!
Watch it and tag those in the comments who you think would find this useful.

This video can put those MLMers in check, who overhype this profession. Also can open up MLM skeptics who are misinformed about this model.

[New blogpost after 8 months] Next time you give opinion about an industry ( or anything), take time to learn about it first! Learn from authentic sources, not from those who gave up or don't have any idea.

Wooohoooo ... this feels like a 'revenge' paid back in full + interest! 9 years! 9 years I've waited for this moment!

To all those, who continued to question me, ridicule me, discourage me, demotivate me about my passion and involvement in Direct Selling / Network Marketing / MLM industry, this article is a return gift from me.

'I told you so' moment for me! I told you that there is a difference between Direct Selling companies and illegal pyramid schemes. You didn't listen! Glad Govt. listened.

This is a new beginning for this industry in India.

Help me spread awareness, by sharing this article to everyone you know.
Now India has a Govt. defined guidelines on 'Direct Selling / Network Marketing / Multi-level Marketing' industry! Finally! on 12th September 2016, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, announced these guidelines in a press release.

My team and I spent last few days researching, writing and designing this article so that you can get all information on this from a single page.

Don't just read this article. Read and re-read. Discuss in the comments. Invite all your team mates, uplines, downlines to read this article. Specially, send this article to those who bugged you for years saying you are doing something illegal. Payback time! :D

I am literally jumping on my chair! It almost seems like a victory to me. My Entrepreneurship journey started from this industry in 2007, at the age of 19. From my parents to friends to everyone around, continuously discouraged me saying that 'this is an illegal scheme and have no future'.

But I didn't give up. I started researching on this industry, got in touch with Global industry veterans. More I learned about this industry, more fascinated I became. Also I started realizing how unaware people were about this industry, in India.

Even people making big money in Direct Selling companies were not studying or teaching their teammates about this industry.

That is why I took it upon myself to educate people on this industry via my 'MLM Eye Opener' initiative. Tried my best to help distributors and companies to operate ethically and grow, as an industry consultant.

But not having an official guideline, always left a void. Not anymore!

Dear Direct Sellers / Network Marketers ... your time has come! Keep going with your head held high!

NOBODY WANTS TO READ YOUR SH*T

Download for free ( limited time) 📖 http://shop.blackirishbooks.com/pages/nobody-wants-to-read-your-sh-t-download [ PDF / ePUB / MOBI ]

Tough love from the author of The War of Art. Nobody Wants To Read Your Sh*t is Pressfield’s “lessons learned" from a career in five different writing fields—advertising, screenwriting, fiction, narrative nonfiction, and self-help.

This is wisdom from the trenches, teaching you how to obey the platinum rule of writing ... THOU MUST MAKE IT INTERESTING!

FROM CHAPTER FOUR:

"When you understand that nobody wants to read your shit, your mind becomes powerfully concentrated. You realize that writing/reading is, above all, a transaction. The reader donates her time and attention, which are extremely valuable commodities. In return, you the writer must give her something worthy of her gift to you.
"When you understand that nobody wants to read your shit, you develop empathy. You acquire the skill that is indispensable to all artists and entrepreneurs—the ability to switch back and forth in your imagination from your own point of view as writer/painter/seller to the point of view of your reader/gallery-goer/customer. You learn to ask yourself with every phrase and every sentence: Is this interesting? Is it fun or challenging or inventive? Am I giving the reader enough? Is he bored? Is he following where I want to lead him?"

Boost your productivity and be the winner at work - must read post from +Namrata Kumari!

You should take this very seriously, if you publish product reviews in your blog, specially if you do that in exchange of some form of remuneration.

Official Guideline from Google Webmasters Central Blog: https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2016/03/best-practices-for-bloggers-reviewing.html

Via Search Engine Land ( http://searchengineland.com/google-tells-bloggers-to-disclose-nofollow-links-when-reviewing-gifted-products-244533 ):

When you are given a product for free, and you write about the product, Google wants you to do three things:

(1) Nofollow the link, if you decide to link to the company’s site, the company’s social media accounts, an online merchant’s page that sells the product, a review service’s page featuring reviews of the product or the company’s mobile app in an app store.

(2) Disclose that you are writing this content because the company gave you the product for free. Google said, “Users want to know when they’re viewing sponsored content,” and sometimes there is a legal requirement to do so.

(3) Create compelling, unique content so that it adds value beyond what is out on the web. Google said you should “provide exclusive content that only you can create due to your unique expertise or resources.”

Covered at Stewart Media blog: https://stewartmedia.biz/an-seo-warning-to-bloggers/

"Google have issued a warning to bloggers. The warning is aimed at those bloggers that willingly review products for companies in exchange for a backlink to that company. From now on, if you issue a backlink it has to have a ‘nofollow’ tag around it."

" ... if the blogger forgets to add the ‘nofollow’ then Google will punish both the blogger and your brand. Both pages will be penalised."

Darren Rowse (ProBlogger) and other industry experts are sharing about it in their tribe. So I guess it's pretty serious.
===========
I also included a screenshot from Shoutmeloud on how to add 'nofollow' attribute to a link.

Please share this post with your blogger friends, so that their blog don't get penalized for not following these guidelines.

Interesting read!
10 ways to drive more Social Proof

Best-selling writer, blogger, and social media expert Mark Schaefer—founder and executive director of Schaefer Marketing Solutions and author of The Content Code—recently joined +Hootsuite for a lively #Hootchat all about social proof. There’s a lot of interest and curiosity around this topic. What is it? Why is it important? And, most importantly, how can you leverage it to boost your business?

Social proof describes our natural human instinct to trust what we learn from the experience of others. “When we don’t know the truth, we search our environment for answers,” Schaefer clarifies. “Basically any kind of information that validates a claim is a form of social proof.”

Must read ebook for developers.
If you are a developer, read this short (26 pages only), simple but extremely effective ebook by +Cory Miller , (CEO & Founder of +iThemes ). Don't forget to tag your developer friends & colleagues below so that they get to read this too.

Direct download link: https://ithemes.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2013/09/Essential-Career-Advice-For-Developers-Ebook.pdf

Download the latest version of this ebook here: http://corymiller.com/careeradvicefordevsbook

Let me mention some highlights from the ebook

10 Chapters/sections:

1. Build Your Portfolio of Cool Projects That Work
2. Get involved and contribute to an open source project.
3. Remember, always & forever: It’s all about people.
4. Good communication skills are almost as valuable and important as programming.
5. Ship.
6. Park your arrogance at the door.
7. Get out from behind a computer screen and meet people.
8. Make sure you power down regularly.
9. Always, always, always be learning and exploring.
10. Pass it on.

"...here’s how to be a magnet that others are drawn to seek you out in their own journey:
• Be an unselfish giver.
• Be friendly.
• Be open.
• Be a good listener.
• Be dang good at what you do.
• Be teachable.
• Be passionate.
• Be invested.
• Be helpful.
• Be available.

Do these things, or rather BE these things … and people will seek you out as a mentor. "

"So here are some tips on communicating with the non-geeks of the work world that will benefit your career greatly:

• Be forever patient. Like the longsuffering kind of patient. Stay calm and keep calm, even when you’ve hit a deadend with us. Always keep your composure. Never talk down to us. And remind yourself that we don’t talk the same language and this is a communication barrier. I understand how enraging it could get when we’re not making any progress. (For managers of programmers reading this, you’ve also got to do this unceasingly. It’s another two-way street.)
• Translate for us. After you mention your technical jargon, then say, “This means …” But the best translations are typically metaphors or analogies. It offers a comparison in our terms that we can understand and more so, relate to.
• See the issue from the other person’s point of view, restate what you’ve heard and ask if your understanding is clear.
• Tell us the WHY until our eyes glaze over
• Then tell us HOW what you’re doing or what you ran into affects the project in terms of time, complexity
• If development is an expedition, share the hurdles, challenges, dangers of the journey you may run into. Then give us options. Don’t just give one path of the journey, present us with different options even if they are all marginal options. And once you’ve presented the different options, give some input to what you’d suggest or prefer and most importantly, WHY. "

Loved it. I am not a developer. But working with quite a few developers for last 2 years while providing Digital Marketing services to global clients. And I must say that I can relate to a lot in this ebook. I am planning to give this ebook to read to any new developer, when they join my team. I am sure that will make a difference.

Btw if you are a developer and interested in doing freelance projects with me, please send me a private message on www.fb.com/souravghoshofficial . We can discuss possibilities.
