I've been away from the blog for a while...but I had to come back to share this. I have a 5-year-old and 3-year-old who have recently gotten very into games, which I love! Except for Candy Land....I never knew I could hate a game so much! :-P So to entertain myself, I made this "Lord of the Rings"-themed version - and made printables so YOU can play it, too! Because, I swear, if I draw one more candy card when I'm finally one turn away from reaching the friggin' Candy Castle, I'm ripping Queen Frostine's head off...... (It's much more tolerable when I can spew LOTR trivia at my kids while we spend an eternity in Middle-Earth!)

Lembas Land.
My kids have been OBSESSED with Candy Land lately. I had no idea I could hate a game this much. We play it about eighteen times a day.  And, inevitably, at least once a day, someone will draw one of those stupid candy cards when they're on literally THE LAS...

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Foods.
I'm back for another 5 Fandom Friday !  This week's prompt is favorite fictional foods, which is an interesting one for a picky eater like myself--sometimes I daydream about liking ordinary things like hamburgers, so in my world, "a tasty hamburger" is sort...

In light of this week's upcoming 5 Fandom Friday prompt (favorite fictional foods), I thought I'd re-share this "Hunger Games" district bread series I did last fall in case anyone's looking for new fandom-based foods to try!  I'm hoping to re-join the blogging world myself with this Friday's 5FF post - I haven't blogged since I finished these bread posts!  I've been slacking...but I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. :-)

In case you missed it, I finished my District Bread series last weekend! :-D Whether you're looking for a way to immerse yourself in the world of Panem while you wait for your in-laws to arrive in town to watch the kids so you can see the movie (yes, that's me - I'm making Districts 1 & 5 while I wait!), or you made it to the theater already and now you need a fix amidst the Hunger Games withdrawal you're experiencing now that it's over, there's a bread for you! Check out the complete list, with links to each post with full recipe (and all the photos in one place, if you want to look for Easter eggs - there are twenty total, from fifteen fandoms!). May the odds be ever in your favor! :-)

The Hunger Games: District Bread Series.
Bread plays an important role in "The Hunger Games" trilogy.  The country's name "Panem" comes from the Latin phrase " panem et circenses "--"bread and circuses", referring to a strategy of keeping the masses distractedly content with an abundance of food a...
