Why fix what isn't broken? That is the main reason to stay with XP for non network applications. XP hit the apogee for usability that has only gone downhill since.
Why have a floppy drive? To pull data from a multi-million dollar piece of analytical equipment that was built before USB and can't be networked due to security and compatibility concerns.
We will be stuck faxing until the legal system recognizes electronically signed PDF. But, you have to OWN Adobe Acrobat to be able to produce an electronically signed PDF. So, keep o faxing as if it is faxed, it can be a legal document.
If you want a continuous hard copy log; dot matrix is the way to go. The ink cost is much lower and you can get printouts spanning weeks from real time data collection. And, unless you are trying to print in near letter quality mode; dot matrix is ten times faster than ink jet or laser.
