A Quick Stucco Tutorial

Today I’m out at one of the new construction builds we’re assisting with and I thought it would be a great opportunity to answer some popular questions I’ve been getting about stucco siding. This home has both stucco and lap siding. Stucco requires more maintenance because it’s basically concrete. Like other sidings, it does require a periodic paint job. For more answers to your questions about stucco, watch this short video.

Have You Heard of the ZIP System?

Today I’m at a new construction project in Cedar point, looking at how the ZIP system is used in the building process. If you’ve ever noticed a home under construction covered in a green seal, that’s the ZIP system. Instead of using standard plywood or OSB strand board on the siding of the house, they use an OSB sheeting with an impregnated green coating on it. The coating protects from moisture and wind. To learn more, watch this short video.

One of my favorite things about living in St. Augustine is the number of fantastic farmer’s markets in the area. Today, we’ll take you on a tour of my favorite farmer’s market at the pier on St. Augustine Beach. You can find great food, art, jewelry, and more. Some of the vendors come in all the way from Orlando. To learn more, watch this short video.

Day Trip with Dwight and Savannah

We recently took a fascinating trip to Cumberland Island National Seashore. If you haven’t been out there, do yourself a favor and make plans for a visit. This island sits on 9,800 acres of land and is home to beautiful seashores, revolutionary-era ruins, and dozens of feral horses. We brought our camera along and documented the best parts of the trip. To see what we saw, watch this short video.

We love the St. Augustine Art Association’s gallery. Right now, they have an amazing show about the sailors who came over to establish St. Augustine. The show is called “Sailor Life! Life on the Menendez Galleon.” These beautiful drawings depict things that actually happened to the sailors on the crossing. To learn more and get a sneak preview of the show, watch this short video.
