Went there for lunch with a group of local ladies. Since there were several of us, and most of it was our first time there, you would have thought they would try to impress you so you would come back and bring friends. I guess all they cared about was making a quick dollar for the lunch. The portion of steak I had was miniscule, and had to be sent back because it was undercooked, and the portion was extremely small. The thing that upset me however, was the fact that the waitress came back and asked if we wanted a refill on our diet drinks, another lady and myself said we did. We found out later when we got our bill that we'd been charged $2.50 for the additional drinks, which almost nobody charges for anymore. We mentioned this to our waitress and she said that was their policy. If it was their policy, they should have mentioned it. Another lady said her waitress brought a refill to her, and she was not charged. Selective policy I guess. Last time there for me, and I won't be taking anyone there.

If you enjoy waiting for your food for two hours, then definitely go to this place. We started out with an appetizer of shrimp, hummus and pita chips-- sounds interesting, right? Edgy and fun! It could have been great but the pita chips were stale, the shrimp was cold and rubbery (only 3 pieces in this 18 dollar appetizer), and the hummus was orange and clumpy. I got the penne pasta with shrimp and it was ok. I didn't eat all of it and I usually devour any food anyone puts in front of me. I literally like almost everything. So it was confusing-- with a big glob of cilantro atop a dish that was hot but not flavorful. Like, 10 pasta pieces. Tons and tons of zucchini. My dinner companion had something called a scallop cake. But what came out was a hot mess, and didn't resemble a cake in the slightest. The way the dish tasted made your mouth want to frown sadly. It was gloppy with weird sweet flavors on one side, with what looked like two different types of scallops on each side of the plate. It literally looked as if someone decided that they needed to clean out the fridge and just piled everything in it into a frying pan and cooked it. Huge slices of zucchini in the middle. When the server came to the table, we asked if she could tell us all of the things in the dish and evidently it was egg, panko breadcrumbs, pico de gallo, sweetsie sauce, two different sizes and flavors of scallop-- one group larger and a day old. We looked at the server sadly hoping that she could take the hint that the meal was not working out, but no, she seemed to think we were stupid for asking. As if all scallop cakes looked like that. But admittedly, I have never had a scallop cake before. So we waited for what felt like three days but was only a few hours to make our way through this little cafe of horrors. Not edible. Now, there were other people in the restaurant who seemed to enjoy their meals. I noticed a couple had eaten all of their food and were smiling and not running to the nearest washroom like I was. Oh, even better, it was $100 for two people. 18 for the app, 8 each for 2 salads, and each entree (no matter how ridiculous or criminal against nature) was $30. So disappointing too because I really liked the ambiance.

We were there on March 15th. The food was GREAT!!! Beyond any expectations we had. However, the bad part, the service was horrible. We were seated upon arrival. Then waited for our server. She finally came over and took our drink order. Then waited again. Now let me say, there were only two other tables with guests. So, not busy. we finally got our drinks and gave her our order. She promised to bring us bread. We got the bread two minutes before our meal. No time to enjoy our drinks with the bread and asst spreads. She checked on us a few times. We had to ask for a coffee and desert menu. We knew we wanted coffee. She said she would bring it. Came back and said coffee was ready. Went ahead and gave here our order. And them waited. When we got our dessert and coffee. We asked for the check and paid them. Didn't know how soon she would be back. Again the food was great!!!!

My husband and I came to Collector’s Cafe for our anniversary dinner due to positive reviews and because (according to their billboard) they were voted #1 in service in the area. We are upper class professionals in our mid 30th, who are not strangers to fine dining. Collector’s cafe experience was worse than disappointing. Let me start with the good—the filet was good and so was the bread served with hummus and pesto. Also, their desert display is rather impressive LOOKING. And now the bad—lets start from the beginning, during the reservation phone call, it was obvious that the person we talked to couldn’t have cared less that it was a special occasion. Upon arrival, we were greeted with complete indifference. Calamari appetizer was only OK (for 15 bucks I’d expect something bigger and better). We also ordered a bottle of wine, the duck and the filet. As mentioned above, the filet was good. And now the duck…we've tasted duck before (I happened to cook it quite often myself) but this time it tasted rather funny, extra (even for duck) fatty and greasy with a sour tone. We informed our server of this, who departed to consult the chef and the owner. Upon her return, the server stated that the owner (who was walking around the restaurant, periodically stopping to chat with a table full of young ladies) and the chef, looked at the duck and decided that it was cooked properly. The server stated that the duck is an acquired taste and that, perhaps, we should adjust our pallet to appreciate it. Any restaurant owner (claiming to have a fine dining establishement) would make an effort to talk to his costumers and ensure that their experience is satisfactory instead of insulting their taste buds. Surprised by this response, but determined to not let it ruin our evening, we ordered one slice of the red velvet cake. The cake was very dry. Obviously, it made no sense to complain about it to the server/chef/owner. We paid our 140 dollar bill and left. We will never return. In conclusion, this is an average restaurant (in a strip mall) with poor service and mediocre art collection. You’d have a better experience at Subway (two doors down).

After reading some good reviews we were excited to give this place a shot. Walking in the place is ok, seems a bit worn. The food was just ok. Black bean cakes were very good, but the other food was so so and probably not worth the price. The service was the worst. It took at least 5 minutes Just for someone to recognize we were there. Overall service was very slowly, unfriendly, and very much unpleasant.
