...or what I wish someone had told me at the start of the year. As I write this I’m sat at a café in a small seaside town where my family live; I‘m reflecting on my urban sketching adventures and thinking about what I wo...

Procrastination/caffeination
When you have important things to do, it seems as though the only correct thing is to go somewhere and sketch. Which I did, at Common Grounds coffee house in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Denver. While listening to the Doug Loves Movies podcast. I really go...

A half year of figure studies, part 3
Some more figure drawings (hopefully the better ones): Dominique: Soda: Joelle: Noelle (not to be confused with Joelle): Tarena: A few whose names I don't recall:

My oh my, but how time flies... A half year of figure studies, part 1
Well, it's been half a year since the last post. Seems like a good time for an update (or several). I've done some figure sketching, some Moleskinnin', and some messing around, so I suppose I should post evidence of these things. On with it: Let's start wit...

End of the year
It's been an amazing year for me, and sketching has been a big part of it. I have done a lot of drawings this year, too many to post, really, so here are a few highlights of what I haven't yet posted. Click any of them to see them larger on Flickr. Now I've...

The new Moleskine
Been doing daily sketches. 10 days so far, haven't missed a day. It's been a self-motivating assignment. By knowing that I've got to draw something, I draw something. Kind of a stupid way to say it, but that's it. Here they are, in roughly chronological order:

Moleskines!
Woah-- I haven't posted something like 8 months worth of Moleskine sketches. Unfortunately they ain't all gems, so this might seem kinda long, but scroll all the way down. It's worth it:

A half year of figure studies, part 2
K.W. is another excellent figure model that I'm always happy to see when I show up at a session. He chopped off his signature dreads last year, so he's given those of us fortunate enough to draw him a different look this year.

Lamy self-portrait
Linda got me a Lamy Safari fountain pen for Christmas. This is my first drawing, looking all artificially earnest and introspective.
