child is not a failed ambitions and expectations dump of parents. That goes especially to parents who enter their children in beauty pageants.

My 30-day challenge this month is to swap out my laptop and use a Chromebook instead. I haven't opened my old laptop in three days.

What I miss:
- the TrackPoint pointing stick. I've been using Thinkpads since 1998. I've been through like six of them. I'm used to a TrackPoint and prefer it over a touchpad.
- the screen size. I like a high-res screen, so I miss the 1440x900 resolution

What I love:
- the battery life on this Chromebook is a revelation. I can go a whole day at work and the battery is still at ~50% when I get home. It's crazy. With my Thinkpad, I could eke out 2-2.5 hours before I was looking for power.
- the Chromebook is much lighter and faster to boot and resume.

I'll let you know how things turn out after 30 days.

Story
Introduction
I enjoy a variety of activities, including but not limited to, reading, collecting books, arts and entertainment, traveling, walking, hiking, sightseeing, meeting new people, listening to music, and networking.

A memorable one was back in October of 2009, when I went back to Peru for the first time since coming to Canada. I did a two week tour with (12 of us) Family and Friends. The culmination of the tour was the Inca Trail. The three and a half days hike to Machu Picchu was definitely a challenge, but it is one that I will never forget or take for granted. It was awe inspiring! And that is how our lives are as well! Live and enjoy life with a passion.

What is said about me: "You’re modern, cutting edge, and often scientific or high-tech because, basically, you’re born 50 years ahead of your time. Because you care and you want to save the planet, you’re always waving a petition in someone’s face. You’re a networker extraordinaire. You know how to assemble people of like minds to make a difference and strike a blow for freedom! You’re original, eccentric, and one-of-a-kind. (You unique types are all alike.) You value your friends. You thrive in group settings. People love to talk to you because you’re intelligent and opinionated."

Aquarius
January 20 - February 18

Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the zodiac, and Aquarians are the perfect representatives for the Age of Aquarius. Those born under this sign have the social conscience needed to carry us into the new millennium. These folks are humanitarian, philanthropic and keenly interested in making the world a better place. Along those lines, they'd like to make the world work better, which is why they focus much of their energy on our social institutions and how they work (or don't work). Aquarians are visionaries, progressive souls who love to spend time thinking about how things can be better. They are also quick to engage others in this process, which is why they have so many friends and acquaintances. Making the world a better place is a collaborative effort for Aquarians.

Aquarius is symbolized by the Water Bearer. In much the same way that the Water Bearer brings that precious liquid as a gift, Aquarians shower the world with their thoughts and new ideas. Luckily for Aquarians (and the rest of us), they are at a near-genius level, so their minds churn out some amazing things. Their thought process is also inventive and original.

The fact that these folks can think so creatively and inventively is one of their greatest assets. Water Bearers are all about progress and technology -- they love the latest gadgets, gewgaws, computers and next-generation technologies. Thanks to a genius that borders on insanity (!), those born under this sign have the unique ability to present ideas that will revolutionize the world.

At play, Aquarians like to surround themselves with lots of people, preferably family and friends. That said, if they don't know the 'players,' they soon will! Baseball and tennis are fun for these folks (though they should watch for weak ankles), and a daily swim would also be nice. Aquarians favor watery colors, like shiny silver or aqua blue. When it comes to love, Aquarians will also be playful, even flirtatious. While they play for keeps, it won't necessarily feel that way, since these folks are the opposite of jealous.

Those born under this sign are altruistic, humane people who are determined to make a difference. The great strengths of the Aquarius-born are their vision, intellect and humanity. They are determined to make the world a better place and to help everyone they can along the way. They are truly the trailblazers of the zodiac.
