Steven Stone has been a professional writer and photographer since 1977. He attended Boston University's School of Communications where he majored in Photographic Journalism. After college Steven pursued a course of post-graduate studies with John Benson at ImageWorks in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also studied with other important photographers including Lisette Model, Carl Chiarenza, Art Kane, Emmett Gowin, and Arnold Newman.
Steven Stone currently writes for The Absolute Sound. He was a contributing editor to Stereophile’s Ultimate A/V for nine years. Prior to that he was a contributing editor to Stereophile for over six years and writer for The Absolute Sound for ten years before joining Stereophile. He also works as a columnist and features writer for Vintage Guitar Magazine, a columnist for EnjoytheMusic.com and an editor for AudioReview.com. He has also done articles on home entertainment for mainstream consumer magazines including Spin and Creem.
His editorial photography has appeared in Business Week, The New York Times, Newsweek, Boston Magazine, W, and many other publications. His personal photography is in the collections of the Library of Congress, Bibliotheque National of France, and many private collections.
Mr. Stone also works as a recording engineer specializing in symphony orchestras using purist techniques. He has been recording the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for the last eleven years.
