For many years, two people that have stalked me have been the editors of the Wikipedia page about me. The stalker that published my address on the "Violet Blue" page is a high-ranked editor there with a well-known and documented history of operating multiple accounts. He sent me an email years ago saying he would spend the rest of his life diminishing my accomplishments, and on Wikipedia he has succeeded (compare my bio here to the page and you'll see what I mean). Yes, I made this threatening email public, but to no avail.
Both stalkers worked diligently over the course of years to set up their Wikipedia status, and each uses the bureaucratic flaws like the ones Danny describes (among others) to troll me and other people, and control conversations about topics they feel they own or want to manipulate.
Add to this a recent conversation I had with someone that works there, where I discovered that the staff has a relationship of fear with the editors... And this is why I never link to Wikipedia or cite it as a reference. Accuracy is held hostage by a deeply flawed system.
Good for them. Thank you Google!
"Google says they will remove promo and contest pages, and might even block a business or brand from putting up Google+ Pages if these continue to launch promos and contests on the social network. This certainly limits the potential uses of Google+ for brands, although banning promos and contests might also be a way of keeping the system free of spam and clutter."
