Trillion Dollar Fraudsters -- latest GOP budgets

Latest "budgets" from House and Senate GOP break new ground. Each contains not one but two trillion-dollar magic asterisks: one on spending, one on revenue.

And that’s actually an understatement -- If either budget were to become law, the US would be several trillion dollars deeper in debt within just the first decade.

You might be tempted to shrug this off, since these budgets will not, in fact, become law. Or you might say that this is what all politicians do. But it isn’t. The modern G.O.P.’s raw fiscal dishonesty is something new in American politics. And that’s telling us something important about what has happened to half of our political spectrum.

Who keeps threatening/cutting the gas off & blowing up gas pipelines in this neighborhood, anyway? I'm sure it couldn't be your friendly local anti-KGB/mafia state Russia. </sarcasm off>

Sunlight in the winter night
Yes you read correctly, sunlight. The bright spot on the right border is the rising moon and the time is about 22:40. Why sunlight you ask? Didn't you know that the moon is only large dirt ball and all the light you see is the reflected sunlight? Okay we call it moonlight, but technically it's sunlight. This is a fantastic thing, if you think the sun is so bright that a ball of dirt can reflect so much light to see the whole landscape at night. I mean this is really awesome, much more than thinking the moon is glowing, imho.
I made this image from 8 shots to reduce the noise. And forgot to take an image for the bright lights so I can't bring back the burned out parts.

A new exposé in The Nation magazine reveals that much of the lobbying money spent on shaping policy in Washington is going unreported. For the third straight year, the official amount spent by lobbyists has declined, and the number of registered lobbyists is the lowest its been in more than a decade. But these numbers are misleading, says reporter Lee Fang, author of the "The Shadow Lobbying Complex: On paper, influence peddling has declined. In reality, it has gone underground."

We stayed here & liked it. Good basic accommodation, friendly helpful staff, warm outdoor swimming pool & thermal heating -- right near the heart of town. Good prices & very conveniently located.

Went there 6 months ago, should have known better as there were no patrons even in the busy time before work. Coffee was weak & poor, threw it in the garbage bin rather than drink it. Went to the Mezze Bar instead. That was my experience.

You can buy the components at any hardware joint and bang one up for $150 - $400. HRV will charge you $4000. They're are a scam, and their sales tactics verge on fraud. They got pinged on Campbell Live for ripping off an old lady.

Dirty premises, beggars outside, cold aircon blows down your neck as you queue. I took my business to Burger Fuel instead.

Bruce is committed to cycling & helping keep people riding. This bike shop is not the biggest or most expensive, but probably the most practical in Auckland. Adventure Cycles continues to provide affordable options, can service or repair almost anything, and provides the best-value rentals for cycle touring & backpackers.

Quoted $40 for 'notary public' services on Friday, but wasn't even in at the office to do the job. Then on Monday, tried to raise the price to $50. If you think this is DISHONEST and UNPROFESSIONAL, you'd be right. There's a perfectly nice & helpful notary around the corner, and you might want to get your legal services from a more honest lawyer also. Beware red flags & warnings signs with lawyers.
