Before, during, and after college I spent a lot of time in the world of chemistry and consequently have crossed paths with many chemicals. When I began buying my own groceries I read every ingredient listed on packages and I became saddened that most of the "food" in the supermarket is not FOOD. I've always been horrified by what our government allows in our food, especially when some of these food chemicals have been completely banned by other countries due to health concerns.
A friend recently asked what I eat. I said "I just eat food". She wasn't quite sure what I meant by that statement. Basically I buy single ingredients and make everything from scratch. I eat the foods that existed before we had all of these adjectives to describe food.
Following this page you'll hear about a lot of different topics that revolve around food. I studied environmental science in college so I am very passionate about protecting the environment by reducing the number of chemicals that are used in agriculture. Consequently I'm also a gardener. I've also been a massage therapist since 2000 and taught for a massage therapy program for 7 years. I strongly believe in preventive medicine and how the foods we eat affect our health.
I'm available for cooking lessons, guided grocery store trips, and catering in the Boise area. (Willing to travel)
