+Katie Day I didn't see that there was link to your posting on Maria Popova: http://kday.tumblr.com/day/2013/02/16 It's interesting to see how delanceyplace also works. It clearly has marked: Buy from Amazon. And on their about page: http://www.delanceyplace.com/dp_about.php
they claim, "All profits from Delanceyplace are donated to charity." I would be curious what this means.

Well worth a listen. David Simon has titled his lecture: End of the American Empire and What's in it for You?

As we celebrate poem-in-your-pocket day—18 April, another important celebration— the launching of the Digital Public Library! See Robert Darnton's article in the most recent NYRB:

Interesting to see how Hessler uses his writing approach and style to cover small town Colorado as he had done for his China articles. Pleased to see he has also been awarded 2011 MacArthur fellow: http://www.macfound.org/site/c.lkLXJ8MQKrH/b.7730985/k.9468/Peter_Hessler.htm

I just read this story in The New Yorker today at the SF Library. It was a great article and was going to mention it to you. I'm embarrassed to say though that I didn't even realize it was written by Hessler. It now makes even more sense why I enjoyed it so much.
