Some look at the map and think the Tonto Verde Golf Community is a bit "out there” in the NE corner of the. Phoenix Metroplex map. Living here you quickly learn the value of the "Beeline Highway,” Route 87 that runs from NW Mesa to Payson. This wonderful, divided ...

Tonto Verde is just 10 minutes east of North Scottsdale down Dynamite Road. They have two 18-hole golf courses that are in great condition - their maintenance crew takes their job seriously. Tee times are easy to access on their website. There is also a helpful video tour of both courses done by their Golf Pro that is worth watching on their website. Beverage cart that circles the courses, and a great Grill/Bar with an outdoor patio for lunch or dinner after golf. Their golf courses are open to the public.

Great course. outside staff is the best I have ever seen, even compared to world-class golf courses. A big shout-out to that kid, Andrew, who is the best and most motivated guy on the team.

Seriously nice golf. Deceptively beautiful setting way in the back of the county. Each hole is a unique experience. Homes fringe the fairways but are set back behind beautiful desert plants and trees, and are custom homes (not track homes). Very nice golf course layout and design. Many approach shots are visual gems. Heads-up for the members that clog the course. They want their monthly dues worth and their play is unlimited. It was dark and I was still behind three twosomes, average age 70 years. The cartpath-only policy means a 70 year old person has to walk a long way to get to their ball and back, and it takes way too much time. I should have brought an Audubon reference guide to identify Sonoran Desert plants and trees. There was plenty of time to do so. Overall, what a nice day!

Great golf, more activities than time, spectacular views and great friends! That pretty well sums up our experience of living at Tonto Verde. My wife and I have now experienced living in Tonto Verde for just over a year, and would like to share our experience. As background, we are “snowbirds” as we are now spending our summers in Minnesota and wintering at Tonto Verde. We originally bought a townhouse at Troon North back in 2005, with the intention of finding an active adult retirement community to buy a home in upon retirement. Over the past several years we checked out several golf communities in the Phoenix area before buying at Tonto Verde. Our top priorities for a community to buy a home in were good golf with preferably more than one course to play, great views and a solid sense of community. Well we got all that and a lot more at Tonto Verde. The Peaks and the Ranch golf courses are challenging, playable and kept in great shape. Tonto Verde also has a beautiful 18 hole putting course which was attractive to us, but we had no idea of how much of a hit it would be with our many visitors. Golfers and non-golfers love to go out there and play. There are more golf and non-golf events to get involved in than we could ever have time for. Socially Tonto Verde has far exceeded our expectations. We play in golf and card groups, attend some of the many music or art activities and frequently meet up with friends for dinner either at the Tonto Verde Bar & Grill or the many restaurants in either north Scottsdale or in and near Fountain Hills. Hopefully this year we will find the time to participate in some of the hiking, fishing and sewing groups as well. All in all Tonto Verde has turned into a wonderful active retirement home for us.
