Great selection of aquatic life. It's kinda like going to an aquarium that you pay for admission except you can buy whatever you see 😀. Staff was very informative when I asked about starting a fish tank and was not pushy to make a sale or to try to upsale me.

I have been going to tropiquarium for roughly four years now and have had mixed experiences there. Usually I get great service, but sometimes the service can be sub-par with only a brief "do you need anything?" The dry goods half of the store is very large and fairly priced. That being said I have only bought things such as algae scrapers and filter socks from this side and this occurs very occasionally. (I buy most of my dry goods online) I have bought both fresh and saltwater from trop and I do agree with most people saying that the freshwater tanks are generally pretty standard and are occasionally infected with ich but overall are pretty good. The plant selection is kind of small but it makes sense for the store is focused mainly on saltwater. Speaking of saltwater the saltwater fish stock is generally quite good and the only ailments I see with any regularity are torn fins and rarely inch, which are usually the yellow tangs that are prone to this. Almost all of my fish for my saltwater tanks over the years have been from here and they are generally healthy and survive. ( that is if you hand pick the best specimens and don't take the obviously harmed ones). The coral selection is one of the best around and they are all very healthy. This being said I feel as if the corals are overpriced and I generally order online or from other stores All this being said with aquarium care center opening across the street I have found myself taking most of my business there due to the amazing service and great prices. I still do go to trop (such as tonight) to buy my supplies and livestock. I feel as if tropiquarium has more fish than Acc but the corals are priced too high to compete. All things considered the two stores are completely different styles and cannot be directly compared. Overall tropiquaruim is a really good store and I think it is worth a trip.

Was my first visit. Was reccomened to stop here from a Petco &AND a petsmart place, larger selection of fish. Like everyone says, VERY nice tanks in front when you walk in. One tank made me actually get a fish I didn't know existed! The staff was very friendly. They saw me looking, and asked if I needed help or had a question , I said was gonna check their selection. Then in a different isle a little later, a different associate asked the same thing : ) Small down side : Their plant selection was very small today, and 1/2 the plants they have were not 'exceptional'. Maybe they are getting an order soon, but literally 3-4 different types, 2 of which were less than par. I did buy some fish, will update in few weeks!

Drove from Metuchen (40 min) to pick up ghost shrimp and when we got there at 7:45pm they were closed even though there hours said they were open until 8pm. Will never waist my time with this place again.

People in the store just looked us for approximately 15 minutes and my daughter and I are very friendly, they just did not seem to care. Finally had someone help, he knew what he was doing but just seemed to hate his job...fish prices were high and their warranties are 1 or 2 days....my advice. Move on. Fish tank owner for more than 30 years.

I visited Tropiquarium in search for a young (few months old if possible) Angelfish and they happen to have quite a few. I have a 36g fresh water tropical fish tank. The reason I wanted a young Angelfish so it could adapt easier in a friendly community filled with 5 neon tetras, 5 glass catfish, 1 white molly, 2 platies, and 1 black molly fry that is over 1 month old. I like their big selection of fish and accessories on site. I’ll defiantly return when I decide to add more fish! As if right now my Angelfish is doing great!

Went to start my new cichlid tank. Had nothing but good service. Quinn definetly has the knowledge that helped me with my tank. I have a happy and healthy 55 gal tank. Love this place. Only fish store I choose to go to!

We walked in recently to a 2 for one on all fish in the store. Now I know why. We purchased 20 Neon Tetras(A total of 40 as per the sale mentioned) and its been 3 days. My tank has ich and has killed 2 clown loaches, a Discus as well as 39 of the 40 Neon Tetras I purchased here. Their fish are sick and not well maintained. Don't let the huge beautiful tanks in the front of the store fool you.. Thats basically where the employees spend all their time maintaining rather than the product itself. They have a good selection of Tank Peripherals though.. Fish prices are ridiculously high and I don't see the pricing being justified with the quality of their specimen.
