My golden retriever is likely the most people oriented pup that ever lived. We are fairly certain he is part human. So when I took him for a bath to Petco, I had no worries. I picked my husband up from the local car repair shop and headed over to Petco to check on our dog (you can watch them from behind the glass). When we walked up, i was shocked to find my dog being scolded, hit, and grabbed fiercely by the groomer. He was already leashed up so as to not move, so the rough treatment seemed incredibly ridiculous to me. My husband and i decided to let our dog finish his grooming session, assuming he may have been reacting poorly to having his nails clipped. To my sadness, I picked him up and found he had not been trimmed, furminated, or any of the other services that were promised (except for teeth cleaning). Two days later, I took him to another groomer, because I was worried about his paws and nails after finding repeating open bleeds. Sure enough, they found loads of issues, including a broken nail that had been left to bleed. I could go on and on, but if you care about your dog, do NOT take them to Petco. Choose a respected, private groomer who will treat your dog the way he or she deserves to be treated. NO ONE should ever strike a dog, especially when the dog is not under his or her ownership. Discipline of a dog is just like that of a child - the responsibility lies with the parent, not a groomer. And besides, how does a mild flinch or shiver indicate poor behavior? I am disgusted with Petco and its services and hope it can improve its treatment of animals before it goes too far.

Has gone through a lot of changes, now every time I go in the service is great, whether its buying dog or cat food and toys, to supplies for my fish tank, each person I talk with is willing to help.

People need to understand that it's not where you bring your dog it's who you bring your dog to this man may have struck there golden retriever but does not mean that any other employees would do the same.

As a saltwater fish owner, let me start off by saying my review is weighted heavily in that area. If you are here for any other purpose, don't let my review stop you. That being said, just today I stopped by and saw a dead Flame Angelfish in one tank, and another dead fish or two in the freshwater section. I have seen a coral beauty with ich before here and in general their saltwater selection is very limited (unless you are here for clownfish) and seems to be declining. Their whole section with inverts has been stripped down and I am not sure what they are planning to do with it...may update my review when I figure that out. They do have a decent selection of supplies for both fresh and salt water aquariums as well as aquariums themselves and stands. Prices for supplies are good and as a general pet store, they have a wide variety of stuff. Their freshwater fish selection is generally not bad as they have far more freshwater fish and goldfish than salt...however, their bettas seem fairly neglected in their little plastic containers and while the containers are well labeled the fish inside them could use a bit of TLC. I enjoy working with the employees there and enjoy walking into Petco, I just wish they would revamp their saltwater fish section. Wonder if they are hiring...
