On June 1st, 2017, I had the honor of being the Master of Ceremonies for the Community Swearing In Ceremony for Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez at the UCR Palm Desert Campus.

Thank you, Supervisor Perez, for this opportunity. I appreciate you and look forward to your leadership!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. I feel humbled to know people voted for me, not because of the victory that came with it, but because you—the people of Desert Hot Springs—believe in me. Most importantly, you believe in the changes that I will work tirelessly to bring to our community. Your belief in me is one that I will always remember and treasure. It is one that will guide my decision making process.

I grew up here and never imagined having this privilege and honor. Desert Hot Springs is not just another city to me; it is a part of who I am. I have never forgotten where I came from and I came back to serve our community. I had the privilege of pursuing higher education because people believed in me and invested in my education. I came back to show our youth that I believe in them, just as people believed in me. I can’t promise you the world. Change takes time, perseverance and hard work. What I can promise you, is that I will dedicate every ounce of my being to work towards making our community all that it can be— one that provides our kids with a better chance of being successful because they deserve a better community.

I will serve you with integrity, grace and responsibility. Know that it is you—the people—that hold us accountable. I invite you to let us know when we are not representing you to your standards. We have the indwelling power to move our community forward if we work together. I am but one person—it takes a community to make changes. I look forward to serving you and working with you as we embark on this journey together.
