Folks, if you've wandered into a political conversation with me in the last couple of years, I've probably steered it onto the topic of campaign finance reform. Today, I contributed to www.MayOne.us in the hopes of changing the corrupting influence of money in politics - and I live paycheck to paycheck. It's that important. I gave, and I think you should, too.

The way things are today, the people who cast the votes are not the same as the people who contribute the money. The funders of political elections in this country are so few, and so rich, that they cannot possibly represent the will of "we, the people" -- and yet, they hold the penultimate influence on our elections. We, the people still use our votes to decide who wins, but they, the funders use their dollars to decide who runs. By the time election day rolls around, it's too late. The influence of money has already taken hold.

This must change. I think the MAYDAY Citizens SuperPAC --- idealistic moonshot though it is --- has a chance of igniting that change. Read about it, decide if you want to be a part, and tell your friends if you do. This is important - maybe the most important change we can work for, because until the congress is dependent upon the people, alone, we won't see any change worth having

However, across the valley a wildfire is burning. The winds shifted shortly after we started taking images, and the particle counts just crept high enough to necessitate shutting down all the telescopes.

When a science-mad A.I. system (voiced by GLaDOS actress Ellen McLain) is installed at NASA, two hapless computer technicians learn the process behind nuclear fusion in the Sun, and how it differs from fission.  #sciencesunday

Where were you when the googles went out?
The Great Google Outage of 2014

+David Anderson mentioned memes when I posted about the +Google outage today, so memes it was.

I'm a big vintage photography fan and these old Alfred Palmer images are some of my favorites.

What if natural products came with a list of ingredients?

These infographics are enormously helpful when discussing about 'natural' vs. artificial things with new-age folks, or anti-GMO folks, or anyone who doesn't remember chemistry.

Lovely shot of the moon and some of OU's campus art. Well done!
While the sunset didn't cooperate for playing with my new camera, the Lunar Watch did.

Technology makes me happy.
I think +Chad Johnson and +Leo Laporte and +Dick DeBartolo should feature this anti-tremor spoon on The Giz Whiz!  +Lisa Kentzell

Made by +Lift Labs in San Francisco: http://www.liftlabsdesign.com/

I don't know anything about them other than their website and videos: Lift Labs Launch Video

But I love this product. I love seeing technology at work.
