Folks, if you've wandered into a political conversation with me in the last couple of years, I've probably steered it onto the topic of campaign finance reform. Today, I contributed to www.MayOne.us
in the hopes of changing the corrupting influence of money in politics - and I live paycheck to paycheck. It's that important. I gave, and I think you should, too.
The way things are today, the people who cast the votes are not the same as the people who contribute the money. The funders of political elections in this country are so few, and so rich, that they cannot possibly represent the will of "we, the people" -- and yet, they hold the penultimate influence on our elections. We, the people still use our votes to decide who wins, but they, the funders use their dollars to decide who runs.
By the time election day rolls around, it's too late. The influence of money has already taken hold.
This must change. I think the MAYDAY Citizens SuperPAC --- idealistic moonshot though it is --- has a chance of igniting that change. Read about it, decide if you want to be a part, and tell your friends if you do. This is important - maybe the most important change we can work for, because until the congress is dependent upon the people, alone, we won't see any change worth having
