Sam and Dean were sitting in the car singing along to Rock music, when Sam stopped singing and looked at Dean. "Dean, why did you not let Jo or Ellen come?" Dean stopped singing as well and frown, glancing at his brother before answering. "Because I don't want them to get hurt."
"But you let Castiel and I help, don't you?" Sam asked curiously. "You guys are different. I can't bribe you guys to stay back once in awhile." Dean sighed. "Not with all the salad shakes and hamburgers in the world" He added, still driving. "Why do you not want us to help? Why is it so hard for you to ask for help, Dean?"
"I just don't want people to get hurt because of me." Dean raised his voice, but tried not to yelled. "I try to keep a distance towards everyone I've ever known to help prevent their hurt."
"Dean, that doesn't help. It doesn't help both of you for that matter." Sam sighed frustrated. "It just makes things worse. Jo, Ellen, and Castiel CHOSE to help."
"And look at what happened. Cas has gotten hurt already, Jo might DIE, and Ellen is going to die with her!"
"That wasn't your fault! We didn't know a hellhound would rip her insides into pieces!"
"We didn't know we'd HAVE to let a disgusting angel possess us either!"
"Dean...That didn't go with anything..." Sam silently smirked as his brother's random topic change. "My point is, you have to let people into your heart, before you can make things better."
"Did you just...." Dean sighed. "I can't. I choose to keep my distance to save others..."
"And what about me, huh? We have a good relationship, don't we?"
"Well you....are the only exception..." Dean answered quietly. Sam sighed at his brother's choice, but didn't pull the conversation up again. Instead, he let it go, and started singing again, Dean shortly joined in.
