"He appeared not to realize that you can’t simply deliver the same speech on economic inequality to a room full of black people in Atlanta that you would to a room full of white people in Iowa."

"The Vermont senator, who built a movement on lofty promises like universal health care and free college, dismissed reparations for black people as “very divisive.'"

Bernie "lost" the black vote because he was never talking about/to black people.

Former staffers say the campaign underfunded black outreach teams, marginalized black media, and never figured out how to connect with black audiences.

...and this is what happens when you don't get vaccinated.
Health officials in Arizona attribute the largest current measles outbreak in the United States in part to the refusal of some workers at a federal immigration detention center to get vaccinated.

Confessional: I ran over a raccoon last night (unavoidable) and I felt like crap.

Enjoy the day!

Gun ownership obviously means different things to different groups in the United States, both traditionally, and in modernity as well.

Blacks in this country are the most under-served, and devalued population among all. This has proven true empirically since near the creation of this country.

The arguments concerning firearms in this country seem to adhere to a fairly strict binary.

On the one hand, liberal, higher than average income, stable community, educated---these tend to be the strict gun control advocates.

And the reasoning presented seems to be rational for this group.

The largest component of the proposed legislation against firearms is the banning of assault rifles, high capacity rounds, and national background checks, both criminal, and (mental) health.

The tragedies that have garnered the most attention over the past decade or so have all been perpetrated in direct relation to the banning components of the proposed legislation.

The overwhelming number of deaths by firearm have been committed with handguns, and in areas that are considerably less affluent than the American standard.

What I infer is that these elite, progressive, well-to-do, educated liberals would like to protect their communities...which is understandable, and rational.

The liberal argument, while not one I agree with 100%, is at least grounded in rational thinking.

Conservatives....of any demographic, tend to span the spectrum of reason in their support of the 2nd amendment. However, it is my belief that inherent to their political, and social ideology, is a profane intolerance for minorities, and an adherence to some white supremacist doctrine (white supremacy in a sociological context). Gun ownership from this perspective of the binary tends to coincide with resistance to federal systems, and interventions protecting against the potential tyranny of the majority against the minority.

There are, of course, myriad reasons for the support of, or opposition to the manner of firearm ownership in the U.S. However, the major points of contention seem to cluster around these two ideologies (as I understand it).

Firearms have always been an integral part of my life, since childhood. I have used them for hunting, and target shooting.

I have also known that those same firearms can be used as a tool to protect ones' self.

Self defense for blacks in this country, and I would venture to say if not around the world, then at least in areas where African Diasporans reside in large numbers, has been a critical necessity. It is my position that this necessity is just as critical in present times.

Black lives do not matter to the institutions of America relatively, and to a large swath of her citizenry, and our appeal to reason depends on the climate under which those progressives in this country who empathize with blacks are effected by the egregiousness of an entitled white majority.

The two American societies, separate, and unequal, mentioned by the Kerner Commission some 50 years ago is manifest today.

As long as a plea from a "black" human being for equitable recognition in this country is met with rhetorical resistance from "white" human beings, in direct contrast to the pursuit of life, liberty, and property...I will advocate strongly for my ability to bear arms in a manner most conducive to my needs.

No justice, no peace.

Yeah...so stop saying that crap. We know that "all cops aren't bad...", but when you continue to spout this crap everytime a black person is murdered by the police...we see what you're doing.

Black man gets killed by the police, and you will immediately start to put the onus on the victim. Or, start telling people to "respect the police more".

What the hell is that?

So, as a black man I have to be in the best, unicorn rainbow farting mood everyday, so when a police officer says something sideways to me in a traffic stop I can "shuck and jive" so as not to receive any adverse treatment?

Whatever.

I'm not big on this whole kumbaya crap.

It's easy, "respect my existence, and I'll respect yours".

If you're ignorant as hell, and you say shit to me like "all lives matter" when someone who looks like me, my daughters, father, sister, brothers, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, etc. is murdered by the police then I dont feel compelled to teach you anything.

MY ABILITY TO LIVE FREE, AS A HUMAN BEING, IN A COUNTRY BUILT ON THE BACKS OF PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE ME, IN A WORLD FINANCED THROUGH THE PAINS OF MY ANCESTORS, IS NOT CONTINGENT UPON YOUR LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING.

If you don't "get it", I don't care.

If you don't like it, I don't care.

If you can't understand it, I don't care.

If we are never great friends in this society, so be it.

Because, blacks have jumped through those hoops for centuries, and look where it has gotten us.

It's not the miseducation of racists that proliferates racism.

It's the willfull practice of racism by racists that proliferates racism.

I'm not pandering to a priveledged, lower middle class white person's ego just so I can keep breathing.
