The first Trainwreck Saloon opened in Rock Hill, Missouri, July 2, 1982 by George and Kris Hansford. Dating back to 1890, the Trainwreck in Rock Hill is considered to be the oldest continually operated tavern in St. Louis County.

Upon its opening, great care was taken to restore and preserve the structure. The original back bar is still in use today. In 1992, a caboose was added to the Beer Garden, serving as a conversation piece. In 1995 an innovative bar was built in and around the caboose, making Rock Hill’s Beer Garden one of the most unique patios in St. Louis. The Trainwreck in Rock Hill continues to be the definitive neighborhood tavern. After surviving a flood in 2009, a dining room was added, adding seats for year round dining. The Trainwreck in Rock Hill continues to be the definitive neighborhood tavern.

A dozen or so of us stopped in for a bite to eat after a student leadership conference at SLU a few summers ago. We all left sharing the same thought - the place lives up to its name. Our experience here was a complete and utter train wreck. Some were served on dirty dishes, some people's orders didn't turn out anywhere close to what they had ordered. It was the first time we had eaten there so I can't say if our experience was typical... If I ever make it back to St. Louis, I'll probably try somewhere else, but I might give this place a second chance, just in case our trip was a fluke occurrence...

Good food, good service and regular price! The place it's very typical american and I honestly think is a must visit from St. Louis.

My friends and I have been there many, many times. The food, atmosphere and waitress staff are great. The service is poor because they close the kitchen when ever they feel like it, so you can never depend on eating after 830 or so..... a big reason why the business has slowed way down in the evening over time. Makes no sense not to have a dependable close kitchen time of 10 or 1030. Who is in charge of this once great bar ?

Great bar food. I like the bison burger and fried mushrooms. Fries are good too when they are fresh.

Good food, poor service and management that puts their needs before your own. It's a shame, we would have brought a lot of business into this place.

Great atmosphere, and good food. We had the turkey sandwich and the bacon cheese burger. Both were good. The bar out back looked nice, but it was too hot for that.
