Amazing place, great food, peaceful atmosphere.... Little bit longer to wait for food, but I was enjoying every minute in the place. Strongly recommend for everyone.

What can I say, if your looking for great food, quick service and value don't go to New York Bagel Cafe. On the other hand if you hit your head in the morning and feel like paying $15.00 for a bagel, go to New York Bagel Cafe. If you want your food in a timely manner I suggest you show up one hour earlier, place your order, go for a walk on Whyte for 45 min and then come back and eat, maybe... I swear I thought they were waiting for the chickens to lay their eggs in the back. Make sure you head straight home after, you will get the squirts after eating here, I know I did! The one nice thing about this place is there is free parking right in front, so you can save your change because a cup of ice to accompany the tap water they serve in the milky looking glasses is $1.00 extra ! Must be that fancy free range organic ice from France. Long story short, go dumpster diving for some scraps next time you think of going to the Bagel, it will cost less and taste better.

Honestly, if I could give this place negative stars I would. Both times I've been there have been less than great. Ridiculously long waits (seriously how long does it take to toast a bagel and put it on a plate with some cream cheese??), overpriced, mediocre food, and poor service mean that I won't be returning any time soon. Don't waste your time or money here, there are far better brunch spots on whyte and downtown.

Last Sunday we were seated right away, ordered within 5 minutes or so, then waited just about 65 minutes for our food. At the 35 minute mark -- long after I should've said something -- a server told us they had forgotten to punch in our order, apologized, and said it had been "put on a rush". Twenty minutes later I flagged her down and was curtly told it would be 4 minutes, but it took almost 15 minutes more. They were very busy, true, but this was just not excusable. Food not bad, large portions, but pricey. Overall, not worth the wait and I won't be going back unless there is a serious improvement in timeliness of service, and better food for the price.

I have been here twice. The first time, I don't exactly remember what I ordered but it came with hashbrowns/fried potatoes and fruit garnish. I remember not being particularly impressed with the food/flavour and being annoyed by the portion size. I came again, reluctantly, as my partner wanted to go. I ordered a veggie burger with potato salad. It came out pretty quick, but was not what I expected at all. The burger was on rye bread, and set up in an open face layout. Which doesn't really make sense when the burger part is only on one side. It was FAR too big to attempt to eat it as a regular burger. On it there was large pieces of avocado equaling nearly a full avocado. There was an entire pickle, split lengthwise. There were onion and tomato slices half inch thick. The veggie patty was not the usual type, but seemed like imitation ground beef which tasted weird. I ate as much as I could, but it was really gross. The potato salad was not good either. The potato pieces were very small, and over powered by nearly the same sized pickle pieces. It was mostly mayonnaise. $15 for a veggie burger and I left still hungry. Even if I had enjoyed it, the portion both visits was so large that I was annoyed at the waste of food. Definitely won't be back.

It is a nice place. I went there for lunch. It was not crowded. The lady is friendly and made her best to serve us. The food was quite good and the menu is different from the other place, so that is a big +. I would recommend it to my friends!
