I've been thinking a lot about brand advocacy programs since my conversation with a few weeks ago. He's right in that brand advocates can be powerful marketing armies for your business.
But, behind each brand advocate is series of stories and scripts that they recall when they tell your friends about a brand that they love. Like soldiers in armies, when the command makes a bad or questionable call or someone is in the lead who the soldiers don't feel is qualified, the stories that circulate through the ranks being to change. That can dangerously make things go south.
