In recent years Stand Your Ground laws across the United States and Texas have been the topic of much debate.

Under Texas's Stand Your Ground law, formally called the Castle Doctrine, an individual may use justifiable force if he or she reasonably believes immediate force is necessary to protect against use or attempted use of unlawful force.
