BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS

Look and feel pretty and prepared for an afternoon by the pool, party on the beach or dinner in a romantic location under the star lit skies. #chelseaspa #londonservices #sherronculver
It’s holiday time again, whether you’re going abroad or staying at home, it’s always nice to have a few essential holiday treatments.

CHECK LIST

1. Book a facial
You don’t need a full facial but I would always recommend a mini or express facial to clean and prepare skin for change of climate and heat. http://sherronculver.com/index.php/services/facial/45-express-facial

DON’T book a facial on a holiday. The therapist does not know your skin, they may use harsh peeling products on you which when exposed to humidity and seawater may irritate your skin. Book a relaxing massage instead, after all, you’re on holiday to relax not address skin concerns.

It feels and looks great to get a tan but tan wisely, REMEMBER;

• The sun is strongest during the hours of 10.00am-4.00pm avoid being caught in the sun during these hours or wear lots of protection, i.e. a broad rimmed hat, sun umbrella, UV sunglasses and cover up with light clothing.
• Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen
• Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you go out also re-apply every two hours or when you get wet or after excessive perspiration.
• Use antioxidants, vitamins A.C.E to protect and strengthen skin.
• Don’t burn!
• Look for moisturisers and make-up that contain a SPF.
• Always remember your hands and face especially in the car UVA can penetrate glass.

2. Book your waxing
Book you’re waxing a few days in advance (not the day before) to allow the skin to heal, you shouldn’t expose freshly waxed skin to heat, chlorine or sunscreens within the first 24 hours. http://sherronculver.com/index.php/services/waxing

3. Book manicure & pedicure
It looks and feels good to have pretty hands and feet on holiday. Try and purchase the colour you’re using from the technician just in case you need to top up chipped nails. http://sherronculver.com/index.php/services/hands-feet

4. Book a massage
Prepare for your holiday by distressing before you get there; use a massage to do this. Have your stress, tension and knots eased away before you go away. It takes a few days to get the body out of city/work mode. Sometimes this can take a day or so, so give yourself a head start and distress before you go, even if it’s a 30-minute back massage. http://sherronculver.com/index.php/services/massage/46-back-treatment

Also take a holiday essential kit
• Lavender oil for sleep, cuts and grazes
• Tea tree oil for cuts, spots, powerful antibiotic/antiviral anti everything
• Clove oil for toothache
• Arnica for bruises
• Antihistamine for bites
• Echinacea tincture spray disinfectant and throat spray
• Bach Rescue Remedy for stress or shock and to calm children!
• Nux vomica or cocculus homeopathic remedies & charcoal tablets for sickness and diarrhea
• Dioralyte
• Calendula cream for rashes
• Safety pins
• Bandages
• Pain killers
• Calpol (children)
• Antiseptic latex gloves
• Antiseptic wipes
• Travel sickness pills or ginger which calms nausea and sickness
• Plasters
• Eyewash
• Tweezers just in case splinters
• Thermometer (I have a strip forehead one) uses less space & easier to use on children
• Lollipops in first aid bag to distract distraught injured children when attending to an emergency!
• Always have a replicate first aid kit in the car with the essentials and more supplies
You can always buy a good holiday first aid kit from boots, which you can top up with other essentials such as the oils and homeopathic remedies.

Be safe and enjoy your holiday!

www.sherronculver.com  -  email: sales@sherronculver.com

5 Skincare Tips

Always remove make-up in the evening.

Invest in a good PH balanced cleanser, its important to get this stage right because some cleansers strip the skin which removes everything not only make-up and grime but also the skins protective layer.

Drink plenty of water and invest in a healthy balanced diet.

A bad diet will deplete the cells of vital vitamins and nutrients which usually shows in the skin. Don’t do fat free diets, the body needs healthy fats such as omega 3 &6 for hydration and secretions, a lack of these will cause dryness and fine lines. Reduce the amount of sugar in your diet. Too much sugar causes a condition called GLYCATION which stops the protein strands collagen and elastin which usually move freely and glide across each other to stick together this leads to inflexible, sagging skin.

Wear a broad spectrum sun screen with UVA/UVB protection.

UV rays accelerate the aging process by producing too many enzymes called MMP’s elastase and collagenase these are designed to protect our skin by removing damaged collagen and elastin from the dermis allowing space for healthy new ones. However, when we get too much UV stimulation, it produces too much MMP’s which makes them turn on themselves and break down the collagen and elastin fibres they were designed to protect causing fine lines and wrinkles.

Invest in vitamins A.C.E in serums or creams

These are the main anti-oxidants needed for healthy skin, building collagen, fighting free radicals and anti-aging.

Invest in a facial at least three to four times a year minimum.

Find a good facialist and listen to their advice and don’t be afraid to ask them lots of questions. Be involved in your skins maintenance by taking their advice and tips but research for yourself as well.
