Middling quality, under-portioned, overpriced food that we waited over an hour to get. Our waitress commiserated and was apologetic, at about 15 minute intervals, while we waited. She explained the wait on the kitchen having to deal with a party of 11—we were a party of three, and two other couples near us appeared to have similar waits for their food. This was a Thursday evening, about 7pm, and the restaurant was not especially busy otherwise. I find it hard to believe that an upscale restaurant would be thrown for a loop by a party of 11. We could not see anyone being served while we waited save for three businessmen who were drinking steadily and having appetizers. Judging by our experience, the experiences of those around us, and other reviews on this site, the slow service seems to be more of a business decision than a matter of incompetence. The money to made off of small parties that drink very little or not at all is simply not worth it to these folks, and the achingly slow service appears to be meant to discourage such customers. Indeed, one couple simply got up and left after waiting more than 45 mins. for their order, and no one from the restaurant made any attempt to stop them, ask what the problem was, or somehow rectify the situation. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, even those who drink enough to be profitable to the establishment, as the quality, quantity and pricing of the food are all drawbacks.

I purchased a Groupon for a 6-course meal and made a reservation 1 week ahead of time. We drove 45 minutes from New West, paid for parking, got seated, and they told us we couldn't use the Groupon as we had to tell them when making the reservation. I asked if we could just use the dollar value towards the regular menu and they said no again. So we left to come back again. Returned one week later and got the same waitress who gave us terrible service. Food was very slow. It was a 30 minute wait between a couple of the courses. There was a table of four next to us who arrived at the same time as us and the manager came out to apologize to them and paid for their drinks and dessert. For us, nothing. Food was fantastic. Service, not so much. Will not be returning and will not recommend this restaurant.

More than excellent food and thoughtful service. Dined on the eve of my engagement and the kitchen wrote congratulations in our dessert. We had the set menu with wine pairing and substituted the main for sirloin. We loved the staff and our meal really made our night special. Thank you Raincity Grill!

I can't believe I didn't think of trying breakfast here before. For $15 if you want your taste buds to experience heaven then try the smoked salmon brioche. The poached eggs were perfect and the hollandaise will have you wanting another order. If it's sunny then take advantage of the location with all the nearby attractions in English Bay or the sea wall.

Friday, April 25 2014 - Late dinner with my boyfriend. We ordered the oysters on the shell and the duck breast special. Oysters were very nice, fresh and delicious. The breast of duck on the other hand was very disappointing. The duck was mainly chewy and inconsistent in is tenderness. Out of seven slices of duck, only two of the inner most slices were tender. The other pieces were chewy to the extent that I almost choked on a piece when trying to swallow it. I put aside two of the pieces so our waiter and the chef (cook) could taste the chewiness of the duck. When I brought it to our waiters attention, he said he would try it. I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A FREE MEAL! After taking our plates to the kitchen, the waiter returned to the dining room but did not stop at our table to let us know how he found the duck. Instead, I had to stop him to ask how it was! He said, the duck was not chewy and that maybe I had a chewy piece of the duck skin. I have eaten duck several times in many places in the world and this was THE chewiest duck I had ever had! I was insulted by the waiter not to acknowledge the duck was chewy! The cost of the meal for eight oysters, and two plates of less than acceptable duck came to $84.00, without alcohol. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO RAINCITY GRILL. I AM TELLING ALL OF MY FRIENDS HOW DISMAL THE COOKING IS AND HOW THE WAITER WAS RUDE NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE OUR CONCERN.

Food is good. Very good. We have sent many customers from abroad. But the way Raincity Grill treats its customers could be more respectful. Raincity Grill has being owing me 50$ for more than 2 years after a database problem prevented them from honouring gift certificates back in 2011. They took my gift certificate, promised me they would fix the problem and that my visa account would be adjusted in the following week, but it never was. I've tried to call them many times and I wrote many emails. Even got a promise from manager Terry that a cheque would be sent to my home address...that was a year ago. Last July, I went in person, left my contact info to a server (it's very difficult to meet with a manager) but no one ever responded to me. Lately, another manager - Marc - said it would get fixed but I never heard back from him As much as I like the food at Raincity Grill, the way they treat their customers is starting to leave a horrible taste in my mouth.... It's only 50$...I don't believe they want to tarnish their reputation for such a little amount....Still, the people who offered me the gist certificate don't need their money wasted. Nor does mine.

Visited your restaurant on Wed. eve to take part in Dining out Vancouver. It was a great experience! The 'mushroom custard ' was delicious and quite novel! as was the sweet pea puree! Two complaints nothing to do with the food- no Parking (visiting from WV) and I think you need to have a look at your web site! very hard to navigate - couldn't make a reservation or call up the special menu!

I had been Raincity Grill and found the food was very expensive. The reason I bought a groupon which claimed and we could get $200 value 8 course dinner for two people. Since my daughter wanted to go there for New year eve. so I bought one this November and it will be expired on Jan. 16, 2013. I tried to make a reservation this morning (Dec 31, 2012) for tomorrow dinner but they told me that I could not use the Groupon until next Feb, but that is the time that the Groupon has been expired. In their Groupon, there is no idcation that we cannot use on Holidays and weekends as long as 48 hours notice to make reservation for Weekend and they are not allowed to use on 12/24, 12/31, 1/18-2/3 or 2/14. I followed all of their rules indicated on their Groupon and felt very upset disappointed by their quibble. Also, I did not believe that they have availability issue, so made another phone call this afternoon to try to find out the truth. This time, it was a lady from the restaurant answered my phone. She said the time is ok, but when she heard that I will use groupon, she immediately told me that I cannot use groupon to get what the groupon indicated 8 courses, I can only use it as a $100 to order regular food. I talked with their manager Terry and the answer was the same. So I asked whether I can use it for Next Saturday (Jane 5), the answer is “no”. Their answer is still no for “Next Friday (Jan 4)” or any weekends. When I asked when I can come for dinner and the answer is: they don’t know, but I can always use it as a$100 to order regular food any time. The manager emphasized that they are a very small restaurant, so they cannot not take people with groupon ; however, their groupon deal is still on. If they don’t have the capability, why do they do the groupon promotion? Isn’t it totally their problem ? Should we take the responsibility for this? This is the Groupon deal Raincity Grill offered. I am writing the message with the hope that other people will not be cheated by their Groupon promotion.
