As part of our Growth theme, this week we are considering the roots - the origins - of our lives. We are made of dust, formed in dust, and yet out of what is seemingly nothing, we begin to take root. Though we cannot see it, we feel the pull of the sun, calling us to life. And so we begin to move and stretch, pushing out of our seed casing, reaching out towards something. To what? We don't know yet. All we know is we must reach out, we must go in this direction, because it is the direction in which we are being called, it the direction for which we were created. Consider this today and see what you notice.

Our theme this month is Growth, and this week we are reminded that we first take root, formed out out of dirt by God. In the depths of the soil we begin to take root. It seems impossible, given that we cannot see the sun. Yet though we lie deep beneath the earth's surface in complete darkness, the warmth and power of the sun still reaches us, nourishing us, and calling us out of our seed casing. Calling us to life. Consider this today, and see what you notice.

As we continue our theme of Growth we are spending this week considering how we take root. Yesterday we considered the fact that God used dust to create us. In the same story in Genesis 3 we also learn that God formed that dust. "Formed" is a wonderful word. It implies intention, attention, purpose, creation, thoughtfulness. It points to the care God took in transforming that dust into a living, breathing human created in God's image or likeness. We were formed. Consider this today and see what you notice.

For the month of June we are focusing on the theme of Growth. Last week we considered the fact that our very being originates from and in God. God took dirt - the "dust of the ground" - and formed it into a body before breathing life into that body to create the first human. Genesis 3 tells us that we were formed from dust and will eventually return to dust upon death. This means we have a very real connection to the earth; we come from the ground and are thus grounded. We are grounded. In our origins of divine breath and earthy soil we have a solid foundation, a connection to the Creator. Consider this today and see what you notice.

This month we are exploring the theme of Growth. This week we are acknowledging the fact that all growth is rooted in God. Our very life originates from the breath of God. And we were created for a purpose: to be in relationship with God and each other. This is no small thing! God did not create us on a whim or for God's amusement. God created us so that we could enjoy God's love, and return that love to God and others. This means all growth has a purpose: we are called to grow in love. Everything that we do and are is intended to draw us into Love. Consider this today and see what you notice.

Our theme this month is Growth. We begin it be considering the fact that all life comes from God. As Genesis (chapter 2) tells us, God created humans by breathing life into their nostrils. In this act we were infused with the breath - the Spirit - of God. Our breath originates in God's breath. Thus, any and all growth is a result of God's Spirit in us. Consider this today and see what you notice.

Our theme for the month of June is Growth. This seems to flow naturally from our most recent themes of New Life and Hope. Our hope comes in our new life in Christ, calling us towards growth. As we begin our exploration of this theme, consider the word "growth." What does it mean to you? What does it sound like? Where do you think or feel this theme may take you this month? Consider this today and see what you notice.
