Introduction

Judy Sims

Judy Sims is a product marketer, entrepreneur and digital consultant.

As founder and CEO of Shopcaster, she built an online e-commerce platform for independent retailers and expanded the business to twenty cities across North America.  The company was acquired in November 2013.

As COO at the CanSport LIVE digital network she was responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plan as well as day-to-day operations.

As Vice President, Digital Media at the Toronto Star, Judy led the overall strategic direction and profitability of the digital media division.  In addition to managing thestar.com and Toronto.com, she created and launched four vertical websites in the homes, health, parenting and automotive categories.

Judy is a former member of the PostMedia Network digital board of advisors and is currently an advisor to the Next36 initiative.

In her career, Judy has provided consultative services to digital media start-ups and mainstream media companies from around the world.  Services included developing strategies for mobile, social media, digital editorial, revenue development, implementation planning, product visioning, market analyses and the creation of investor/VC presentations.

Before working in the online world, Judy spent ten years in the print media industry.  In 2005, she launched and led Weekly Scoop, Canada’s first weekly newsstand celebrity magazine.  Before that, as the Market Development Director, she was responsible for B2B and B2C brand strategy for the Toronto Star.

Judy blogs at JudySims.com and has recently completed her first novel.
