"Reamde" is pure +Neal Stephenson
fanservice. It has a computer and an explosion. Of all his other books, it is most similar to Snow Crash. Indeed, many of the themes and ideas are similar. The big difference is that the technologies in Snow Crash are fictional, highly advanced, and futuristic, where those in Reamde mostly exist today, and are widely available; and in many cases these are the same technologies. Reamde is Snow Crash 20 years on, recast as a contemporary techno-thriller instead of a post-Cyberpunk parody.
Jonathan Coulton has a new album out, "Artificial Heart." He has professionals producing the thing this time around, and an actual band. I'm rather enjoying it. It also includes arrangements of "Still Alive" and "Want You Gone," the first of which is fairly remarkably good.
The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD bundle is out. I never finished Ico the first time around, and it was impossible to find copies after a while, so picking this up was a no-brainer. The game is absolutely beautiful in 1080p. I am going to finish Ico before I start up Shadow of the Colossus again, but I fully expect that game to look stunning as well.
