Assassin's Apprentice starts a bit slow, but then it gets really good. It has everything! Court intrigue! Assassins! Communicating with animals!

It really does have a lot of things that you like. Books 2 & 3 are a bit of a slog; however, Hobb wrote a trilogy, which takes place years after the events in the Assassin's Apprentice series called the Tawny Man trilogy, which is supposed to be fantastic (don't read anything about the Tawny Man trilogy, because it will spoil you for Assassin's Apprentice).

I love TFIOS and If I Stay. They are both tearjerkers, but they are so good.

This sounds like an interesting book. I do enjoy a book that centers on a painting or another piece of art.

Yea for doing an audio book. It can really make a book even better. :)

Great and thoughtful review. It sounds like this book definitely missed the mark.

I love book series like this one that can make you hate a character in one book, and then feel for her in the next. :)

Me too! People thing if you don't like a character it always ruins the book but I feel like if gives you a chance to get to know the reasons behind their sour mood, which can be so much fun!!!

Sorry to hear that the book veered in a direction that you didn't want. It is a shame that the book blurb didn't give you a better idea of what to expect. :(

Yeah...I didn't mind of course that there were some religious themes, but I guess I didn't expect that basically the entire novel would be like that unremittingly. Serves me right for not researching fully!

Great haul. Fangirl and E&P are wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by (as always). Everyone is saying Rainbow Rowell is the best contemporary writer ever and I can't wait to read them. I'm doing a buddy read of Fangirl in case I need someone to gush to 😊

I don't like contemporary series very much either. I much prefer my contemporary novels to be stand alone.

It is so awful that people post naked photos of their ex'es online. There are starting to write laws to stop that sort of thing. I'm glad that the rest of the book was good too. :)

I am looking forward to reading The Winner's Curse soon. :)
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme and weekly event posted every week on (OMG) Tuesdays by The Broke and Bookish. I don't know how this happened, but I only have books from February 11 to April 1. I meant to have a little more divers...

If you prefer suspenseful books, Nora Roberts writes under the pen name JR Robb and has a crime/suspense series.
Top Ten Tuesday is sponsored by The Broke and the Bookish! This week's post - top ten popular authors I've never read, and why. In no particular order, here's mine. Brandon Sanderson: Despite the fact that I’m a self-state...
