I am interested in this Scott.  Another teacher from my campus who is doing a similar program through Lubbock Christian University, tried to look at the tardy policy at our school last year.  Nothing seeme to get done.  Administration is under so much pressure to keep refferals down that they just aren't able to do much about tardies.  The kids pick up on this and by week two are takng full advantage.  I must say, that unless I have one student who is habitual, I tend to ignore tardies because I choose to pick battles I can win.  We use PBS and it might be a flaw in that particular program.

I don't think it is supposed to be like using scientific method but rather more of using data and local culture/vision to guide us in a problem solving.  I think action research is more of a combination of hard data and subjective data being used to create possible solutions and then tweek them as they are assessed.  I could be completely off as the whole thing seems a little confusing to me.
