Even though it looks a little touristy place and they're obviously targeting all the tourist from the surrounding hotels, the food was really good. The octopus appetizer was tasty, and not too chewy. As for the sushi, the nigiris were good, not spectacular honestly just good. The rolls that we had were good, the poke, salmon skin and the rock n roll. Pretty simple and straight forward with good flavors. Appetizer, 3 nigiris and 3 "basic" rolls came out to $63. Not bad sushi, not spectacular but definitely above average!

I really enjoyed my dinner at Sanraku! The staff -- particularly the chefs -- were pleasant and fun to chat with. The sushi, while merely above average, was an excellent value considering the entirely reasonable prices they were asking. I highly recommend the unagi (eel) sushi, which was buttery smooth and just melted in my mouth.

Exceptional fish, wonderful variety and creative appetizers made our experience at Sanraku truly memorable. Vincent was behind the sushi bar and prepared every bite with perfection.

Sanraku has some great sushi combo plates for decent prices. They are a bit pricier than most Japanese restaurants, but the food is well worth it. The fish is fresh and the rolls are quite flavorful. One friend ordered teriyaki salmon, which was said to be a bit dry, but all the other dishes were very well prepared.

A THREE STARS OVERALL, BUT FOUR AND A HALF IF YOU KNOW WHAT TO ORDER I've been to this place like five times for work, and I've tried like five different things, so I can probably tell you what's worth and what's not. WORTH - Lunch boxes. Great value for the money. KINDA WORTH - Sushi. It's good, but it's not like, amazing. And it's not the cheapest you can get sushi like this for. NOT WORTH - Donburi. Udon noodles. I mean like they're alright, but I suppose I have higher standards for donburi since I can get similar quality stuff at home. The meat's not cooked incredibly well, and in general you could do better with the lunch boxes. Value is relatively low for these two things. And that's it. Short and sweet, get yourself the lunch boxes and maybe a roll of sushi to go along with it.

My journey to find the best sushi place continues as I happen to stumble upon Sanraku on a casual Monday night. My boyfriend and I were actually hoping to eat at Ryoko's which down the street but they were packed and we weren't in the mood to wait 40 minutes so we walked around and found Sanraku which didn't have a terrible wait and stellar reviews. Like most other great Japanese restaurants, this place is authentic. The sushi chef down to the staff were all Japanese if not they were all at least fluent in Japanese... which is good enough for me! We waited about 15 minutes before we got a seat on the sushi bar. I love sitting at the bar because it's so entertaining to watch the chefs prepare the fish but it's also such a tease! The menu is simple and it didn't take long to decide on what we want. We ordered the Sanraku sushi special and the sashimi combination along with a tiger roll. Sanraku Sushi Special: Great selection of fish! I loved all of it :) The fish was fresh, tasty, and individually prepared. Each nigiri piece had its own set of toppings that complimented the fish very well. I think this was worth the price. Sashimi combination: It comes with octopus and scallops! Normally most sashimi plates don't so I thought that was great. The octopus was cooked well and the scallops were sweet as can be! The hamachi was incredible, usually I'm indifferent when it comes to hamachi but this one was just so so good. The tuna was beautiful and the salmon was rich. Tiger roll: I really like the combo of tamago and unagi, very tasty. It's an overall sweet roll because of both ingredients but too good to pass up. The cucumbers provided a nice refreshing crunch to cut through the rich unagi and sweet tamago and the shrimp tempura just complimented the rest of the roll. Very simple but very flavorful. I also really like the ambiance of the restaurant. It was cozy but vibrant. Will visit again if I'm in the area :)

Bright friendly spot for comfort Japanese food and sushi. The staff is very efficient and attentive. Another good place to hit up before a show at the Marine's Memorial theater since the service is pretty quick.
