Introduction
Anthony Charles, born in Kingston Upon Thames, London on 22th September 1970. An only child, his mother and father Jennifer and James Charles, owned a small printing company. Anthony was educated at Manchester Grammar School where he excelled in literature, sports and languages. Anthony spent much of his holidays working in newspaper companies gaining work experience as a junior copy writer. With a passion and enthusiasm for the written word, Anthony then went on to University to study journalism which he graduated with a first-class honours.
Whilst at University Anthony shared accommodation with another student called Arthur Grey. Arthur's father, Frederick Grey had a shop importing and selling antique jewellery with particular emphasis on rare watches. Anthony acquired much amusement from spending his time looking at and discovering the origins of these watches, which he would begin to manufacture stories and tales of his own, which included all manner of exciting adventures. Unfortunately the short stories that he created at university were never published but always remain close to his heart. It is this that founded his desire to combine his two passions, writing and antiquities with particular emphasis on watches.
After graduating , Anthony moved to Manchester where he continued to pursue journalism, he was hired by a small firm that subsequently went of business. It was only by a stroke of good luck that Frederick Grey contacted him with news about an opening position in a jewellery company where they were looking for someone to deal with their public relations. Despite only being 22, Anthony jumped at the chance to work for a well-established jewellers.
After 3 years, Anthony felt it was time to move on from dealing with PR and branch out on his own. As such he has published materials in a variety of publications; that are generally a combination of historical, factual and even fashion related articles on jewellery.
He has built his reputation on becoming a freelance journalist who specialises in jewellery who is currently the editor of Watch Forest Guide.
