Probably a strange way to spend a Sunday but had a short walk around Park Hill, both the original unrestored buildings and the new refurbished block.

In memoriam for Steve Jobs as 2011 draws to a close, here's one more rare photo that illustrates his rebellious spirit. In December 1983, a few weeks before the Mac launch, we made a quick trip to New York City to meet with Newsweek, who was considering doing a cover story on the Mac. The photo was taken spontaneously as we walked around Manhattan by Jean Pigozzi, a wild French jet setter who was hanging out with us at the time. Somehow I ended up with a copy of it. My editor begged me to include it in my book, but I was too timid to ask for permission, especially since IBM was still making CPUs for Apple at the time.

The DeLorean will remain my favorite car, even among all these fancy new cars that come out every year. Just look at it...!

I haven't had any trouble with this store. Used them for warranty repair on an iMac, and they didn't take too long. The store does get very busy - every Apple store does, so that isn't unique to this store. But it is open until 10pm, so there are probably some quiet times you can go in. Staff always seem friendly and Apple do much more extensive training than other stores do. The staff don't push you to buy instantly (unlike PC World/Currys). The fact that the store gets busy shows that Apple is a company that knows what they're doing - PC World's and Sony's stores at Meadowhall are astonishingly quiet in comparison.

Used Swifts to fit tyres on my car. They were fine at fitting the tyres, but managed to scratch the paintwork on my car when they washed it. They also incorrectly diagnosed a noise as being the catalytic converter and wanted £447 for a replacement of it. I took it to another mechanic who said it was the rear bushes causing the noise (correct diagnosis). I asked Swifts a price for replacing the bushes, but they wouldn't give me a price, just wanted me to go down there for a diagnosis again. The gentleman on the telephone didn't sound interested in me having the work done there, telling me to go elsewhere. When I informed them that their diagnosis of the catalytic converter was wrong, their response was "we must not be a very good garage then".

This garage is OK, but there are probably better. They didn't re-assemble the air filter housing on my car properly after replacing the air filter - instead they left it loose and one of the hoses wasn't put back in its clip, seemed very sloppy/lazy and makes me doubt their ability to do more complex work. They also managed to make the carpet and mats in my car dirty when they were previously clean when I dropped off the car. On the plus side, they did do the work that was asked of them.
