Really enjoyable easy hikes available. Good information about the whole Newberry monument area. They made a Chang this year with shuttle that takes you up to top of cinder cone, instead of vehicles. Could only accommodate 10 vehicles at a time before. So much better access for more folks for only 2 dollars per person.

Stellar place. Decent AT&T 4G access. A great visitor center and junior ranger activity. Don't miss the lava cave nearby, the easy lava trail from the parking lot, and the cinder cone shuttle. Worthy stop.

It was a good place to visit. Although remember to go before 4 pm as they close the lava tube and the shuttle to the top of the lava butte by 4. The park is very good and if you go further, you can walk (1.5 mi) to see the falls....just remember to take plenty of mosquito repellent - I almost got carried away by the mosquitoes. The trek is nice and the Deschutes River is amazing to walk next to!
