When you walk into the Edison it is like walking into the 1920's. The entrance is set in the middle of an alley. When you walk in you go down a staircase and land into a wide room with a black & white movie projecting from the wall. The drinks are created by a mixologist so I recommend trying at least one of their specialty cocktails. They also have a great happy hour with affordable drinks and very tasty sliders.

my not-so-hidden-gem :) I celebrated my birthday here with my friends. Unfortunately my birthday is near Valentines day so there was a long line (mostly couples). We didn't get in til 12:30... thats what you get if you show up super late :/ We still had a lot of fun and the drinks were a hit or miss. LOVE: - Gorgeous Absinthe Fairy with her adorable cart - lil absinthe bottles!!!! - tons of places to take cool pictures - the silent films projected onto the wall - people dressed up in flapper themes - sexy 1920s decor Meh: - absinthe...not a huge black licorice fan and the flavor made it more funky - line - dance area isn't as big so it could get crowded Don't forget to look for the tiny room where they have a piano. If you don't know what you want, ask the bartender to make you something cool :D Best place to take people who are visiting from out of town :) or a girls night out

A 'must' in Los Angeles to take anyone new to LA or visiting - it never disappoints! I first went here for a friend's hipster party and have been back a few times since. There are endless corners around the old power plant to hide away from prying eyes or just have a personal conversation or a discrete smooch. If you smoke cigars, take your smoking jacket and take a moment in the cigar lounge at the front.

One of the coolest places in LA. They have outstanding food and drinks. If you are coming with friends or a date you will enjoy yourself. The view overlooking the city very nice. Be prepared for a 10.00 dollars cover charge and the valet needs to be paid upfront. Reservations is highly recommend. This place does get busy after 10pm on the weekends. The show is outstanding. All around the service is first class. They make great drinks. This one the best places in DTLA to hang out. If you are a person who is local or a tourist it's a must to experience it. If you are coming here for a birthday party or to just to hang out you will love the vibe. Hands down one of the coolest places in town.

They've got that swanky 20s prohibition era thing going for them. The crowd is classier and older than most scene places in LA. And they've got aerial acrobats that perform. The cocktails are delicious?

Absolutely unbelievable. The manager decided to close at 12am...despite the fact that their website, etc, doesn't say anywhere that they might close early. Apparently that's the way people do things on the West Coast- back where I'm from, that sort of thing wouldn't fly. He was incredibly rude and condescending. This is LA, honey. If I want to be talked down to in a flash-in-the-pan hotspot, I have options. I hope that, like Edison's early experiments, this over-hyped novelty fizzles out and dies.

The drinks were good and the place is gorgeous. Service is just OK but the other factors more than make up for it
