Agreed.  My earlier monochrome photos were shot with Hoya R72 until I lost it last year. For a long period I regretted of losing that filter as I do not get this filter in India. Definitely there are work around to achieve similar quality of darkest dark and brightest bright even without use of any additional accessory if you know the use of channels in photoshop.

Nikon has recently released the new RAW image processing and adjustment software, Capture NX-D Beta and this is our members' take on that. Have you already tried the trial version out yourself? What's your opinion?

I am by no means a professional but I have used Capture NX2 in the past quite a bit.  Currently I use Lightroom 5 and after having tried the beta of Capture NX-D I have to say that I am not going to switch any time soon.  The interface is not nearly as intuitive as LR5 and the RAW conversion is not noticeably better.  I just don't see this as an improvement over LR5 and with the lack of plug-in support that is likely since Google acquired Nik, I am not likely to change.
