Service was excellent but the food was less than stellar, considering the astronomical prices they charge for each entrée. Our group ordered three different kinds of meat and they were too rare, too chewy, or too bland. The salmon over Caesar salad was too fishy. Fried calamari and crab bisque (appetizers) were good. The "Back Room" for live jazz is only suitable if you don't want to carry on conversations with your dinner party. If you do want to talk and hear, you're better off sitting somewhere else in the restaurant.

Meant for the retirement set. Went to the Gaslight Grill for Sunday Brunch and left content (full), but bored. Like the other places I go, if I walk in and the place is deserted, you have to wonder what is wrong with it. Especially so in this instance when it is located right next to a "mega church" and service had just ended. Total guests at 12:30 p.m., 10. The brunch was decent enough and was pleasantly surprised that they had Corned Beef Hash which is hard to find in KC. The prime rib was tasty if not a bit underdone. Their menu said they had smoked salmon, but it was nowhere to be found. The smoothie was a nice addition and welcomed by my 2 year old that would eat nothing but crackers, cheese and a few hash browns. Granted it was a nice looking place, service was professional, but it wasn't that good. I had ordered a drink and never got it even with the place nearly empty. Back to the food bar for another smoothie on my own. Luckily kids 5 and under eat free. Older kids 6-12 are $6.95, but I can't imagine taking a family to eat here, and I guess everyone else thought so too.

Been here three times total. Always a great experience. Their happy hour outside is fun in the summer. Dinner is always top quality. The staff are all great. Nothing is pushed on you. Live music is fantastic. The owner makes a point to stop and greet everyone at each table.

Last night, Saturday March 12th, my husband surprised me with a date night to the Gas Light Grill. We've always wanted to try the restaurant, but wanted it to be a special occasion because the menu prices . Dont get me wrong, we eat out often and enjoy high end restaurants. We just save to go them. Our reservation was at 7:30pm, we arrived and were seated promptly in the main dining room by a very friendly host staff. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from here. We waited at least 5 minutes for water. ...then when our server (red headed Jamie or Janie) finally came by to take our order (5-10minutes later ) she was not helpful in telling us about the menu items. Instead she appeared put out to take our order. My husband ordered the stuffed salmon and I the grilled salmon, a beer and glass of wine. The food was absolutely delicious! Perfectly prepared, however the server never even asked how we liked it or if we wanted another cocktail which we did. She simply dropped off the check when we set our plates at the edge of table. So saddened by this experience because we had high expectations and we hoped to be treated with friendliness or at least acknowledged by the server. I'm a member of the KC Food Forum and will definitely post to see if anyone else has experienced this service at the Gas Light Grill.

Let me start by saying my experience was not awful. But it wasn't good either. I was with a large group and although we received a lot of attention, the service was less than stellar. There were two wait staff for the large group, neither seemed willing to help with any requests that weren't for their side of the party. One waitress spilled a boat of ranch dressing while clearing empty plates.. made zero effort to clean up the mess. Yes, we were done eating but we remained there for at least 30 minutes talking...and looking at spilled ranch dressing. The jazz band was great. Absolutely wonderful. Played a good selection of old and new tunes. However, the music was so loud that you had to scream to carry on a conversation. Perhaps that would not have been bad if we were sitting closer to the front of the restaurant. The food did not live up to the prices. I paid six dollars for THREE onion rings. My calamari was rubbery, had it not been for the spicy sauce, it would have gone back for a refund. Another guest ordered scallops which were over cooked and tasted like there was still sand in them. It seems as though you're paying for the ambiance and jazz than the quality of the food. In my opinion, Gaslight Grill is more for the 60+ crowd.

Great service and a very nice atmosphere. The food was terrific. We had the KC Strip and the lobster tail. Steak was perfectly cooked as was the lobster tail. The hummus plate appetizer was great as well. Overall a little pricy, but considering what you get with the quality and taste of food, the atmosphere, and the service, it's well worth the visit.
