We are just a few days away from a full solar eclipse! Join us for this month's In My Backyard where we will be exploring the science, history and lore behind the solar and lunar eclipses.
This is a free, family friendly event in our Discovery Room.

High School and Middle Science Teachers are invited to spend two days learning about citizen science with Botanist Dr. Rick Williams and Herpetologist Dr. Chuck Peterson. They will spend a day in the museum learning about citizen science resource iNaturalist and how to use it in the classroom and a day in the field learning about Idaho plants, amphibians and reptiles and using iNAturalist. Registration is required, spots are limited, no fee, can earn one continuing education credit.

Applying STEM Concepts: The Student Invention Process.- –With the current emphasis on STEM education, learning about STEM is just the beginning. This course will provide professional tools for educators to instruct and inspire their students in the creative problem solving process, as well as immerse teachers in practical, hands-on curriculum designed to inspire and ignite their students’ creative problem solving skills by addressing real world problems. This course will provide activities for use in classrooms for grades 1-8, as well as direct instruction about how to effectively involve students in the Invent Idaho student invention program. Administrators are encouraged to participate to understand the process for including their schools in the award-winning Invent Idaho program. Participants will develop their own invention display samples to inspire students to use their creativity to solve real world problems.
Cost: $55 for one continuing education credit from ISU
Bring: Lunch, 3-ring binder with lined paper, small spiral notebook

Ouch! I got a sunburn! Join us for this month's family fun day where we will explore the importance of safety in the sun. How does sunscreen work? Why are my sunglasses so important? Get the answer to these questions and have some more fun in the sun!

Laser tag tournament presented by the Idaho Museum of Natural History and Checkmate Laser Tag on July 21st from 7 pm to 10 pm.
