Just a few updates (this will be LONG):
I'm now on Patreon (link below). If you don't know what Patreon is, let me explain... It is basically a place where "patrons" (that's YOU, the viewer) can pledge on a per video basis. IF you choose. Meaning, videos will ALWAYS be free and pledging is entirely up to you. The "patreon" (ME, Myles) will get whatever you've pledged per video at the end of the month. You will NOT be charged until the end of the month so you can opt out at any time before the date of payout or you can increase/decrease your pledge amount. Also, let's say you wanted to pledge $1 per video but you were worried about me releasing twenty sub-standard videos and breaking your bank - you can cap your pledges, meaning if you wanted to pledge $1 per video but wanted to stop at $5, you'd only be charged for five of those twenty videos. I've accepted donations in the past (and to those of you who have donated, it has been VERY much appreciated) but one-time donations are harder to accumulate due to several factors (of which I won't go into). I have a VERY large subscriber base and have tried in the past to make the MBD calls a full-time thing but through standard donations and ad revenue from Google AdSense, it's next to impossible.
I know sometimes I end up taking days, night, weekends, holidays off, but it's not via a lack of interest - behind the calls, I'm a regular schlub just like anyone else, meaning real life gets in the way of releasing steady content. Yes, I'm not obligated to release content just as you're not obligated to get in on my Patreon scheme but deep down, I like to make people laugh. The more time I have to spend away from MBD, the rustier I get, too. With Patreon, some day I MAY be able to do this full-time. My goal right now is to release one video per week (Myles Monday, I call it). That adds up to four videos per month, five on certain months. And even though certain factors MAY get in the way of that, it is my mandate right now. If I can reach, via the LARGE Youtube subscriber numbers, a specific goal, NOTHING will stand in the way of that mandate and that number will grow (two per week, four per week, etc). I realize it will take a LONG period of time, if it were to become a reality, in reaching that goal, but I'll never know unless I try, right?
So, if you'd like to pledge, at any time with any amount, check out my Patreon page. Right now, you can enter a fixed amount: $1, $10, $10,000, whatever, or you can select two pledges I have set up. They are BARE minimum pledges ($1 or $2), the higher of which comes with a special perk. I plan to create BIGGER pledges over time but right now I want to see if this is viable. Remember, you are under NO obligation to take part in this and I will always release free content, no matter what! The amount and steadiness, though, depends on you.
After such a long time off, I am a bit rusty on my timing and editing skills. My last video that I released, well, a majority of you seem to have liked it but I know I can do better. That's where Patreon comes in. I'm trying to build an empire, as it were, to where said rustiness will never have a chance to settle in. More over, I've obtained some new editing software that will allow my videos more life, as it were (better visuals, better overall sound quality, etc). I am in the process of setting things up so it will take some time but I am slowly getting there.
I will attempt to make my Myles Monday deadline tomorrow but I'm working extra hours tomorrow so Myles Monday MAY or MAY NOT shift into Myles Tuesday this week. Either way, you'll get your new fun game, it just may be a day longer than I had anticipated.
NUMBER FOUR AND FINAL:
Along with Myles Monday, one of my goals is to set a minimum run-time on my videos. Right now, I'm trying for at LEAST five minutes per video. If my Patreon fanbase grows and grows, that minimum number will grow, too.
Thank you all. I'll be back.
