We were sent a copy of the book Captain McGrew Wants YOU for his Crew! for the purposes of this review. We found it to be perfect in language and tone for our 4 year old, and the illustrations are brilliant. A lovely book; one I can recommend if you are looking to buy a gift for a 4-6 year old.

This is a really easy one - grab a pack of styrofoam planes the next time you're in +Poundland and you'll have a brilliant screen-free activity for your toddler or preschooler.

Flying aeroplanes can be as complicated or easy as you like: set up a flying zone, with an end gate or zone; race the planes against each other (or a person running!); or simply fly them for lots of fun!

The giveaway of these Go Find It! cards by +Sensory Trust has ended but these cards are fabulous for promoting outdoor exploration. Children will love to find things outdoors, prompted by the cards.

The Go Find It cards can really liven up a walk, and get kids excited about being outside.

This is a really easy, fun garden game. You can set it up in moments, and your little ones will love to spend ages playing with it.

You need only two things to make these foil rivers - foil, and water!

This was a collaboration of 20 bloggers who have visited these places on a day out with a toddler and can vouch for their brilliance! If you want to read more about the location, written by the blogger recommending it, simply click their name at the start of the text.

The map can be filtered to show indoor or outdoor places.

You can get directions to each place, simply by clicking “Directions”, which you’ll find under the text of each place in the A-Z of days out with a toddler in the North of England.

There’s no denying that summer can be an expensive time of year and it’s often difficult to come up with a new idea for somewhere to visit that doesn’t break the bank. With that in mind, Samantha from +North East Family Fun has put together her Top 5 FREE Days Out for Toddlers in Northumberland

Toddlers are usually vehicle fans. They love all things motorised, with wheels, and if they can get in or on it, to drive it, all the better. So I have pulled together a list of 18 places around the UK that have a transport theme to the day out.

Recently we visited RSPB Saltholme in Teesside, which is a little oasis of nature with a backdrop of industrial cooling towers, chimneys and, of course, the Tees transporter bridge. We were invited to spend some time at the RSPB Saltholme visitor centre and wetlands to see what preschoolers can do and see.

So, cards on the table, what’s it really like at Disney with a pre-schooler? Is it a totally magical experience?

Are they just the right side of excited all day? Does the day fly by with a smile, guaranteed to build ever lasting memories that you’ll recall with a sigh and make you reach for the computer to re-book as soon as your holiday ends?

Well… Honestly, no. I’ve pulled together 9 reasons our days weren’t quite as magical as they might have been, and 8 ways you can learn from our errors.

There’s more to Florida than just theme parks (though of course you can visit those with a baby), and lots of places to visit with a little tot.

Here are my top 10 places to visit in Florida with a baby.
