I honor the legacy of all who have died in war, by working against war. I will work against it, today, tomorrow and till I die. I follow in the legacy of Martin Luther King Junior who said, "I want to say one other challenge that we face is simply that we must find an alternative to war and bloodshed. Anyone who feels, and there are still a lot of people who feel that way, that war can solve the social problems facing mankind is sleeping through a great revolution. President Kennedy said on one occasion, "Mankind must put an end to war or war will put an end to mankind." The world must hear this. I pray to God that America will hear this before it is too late."

One of the greatest speeches from an American politician ever. If you haven't heard it take the time to listen.

One of the greatest speeches of all time. Listen to it.

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

If anyone is out there reading this, I ask you on this holiday dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. to please take the time to read his Nobel Lecture. It is a critically important lecture to read by all people and especially by all Americans. He talks about the importance of our addressing three things; racism, poverty and the injustice of war. In it he discusses the importance of nonviolence. How often do you hear nonviolence being discussed these days? Have we really become such a violent country that we have forgotten the importance of nonviolence and the benefit of societally working towards peace? Please anyone and everyone out there, take a few minutes to read the words of this great man.

This is one of the best things to come through my social media stream in 2016. In a year of so much political strife, and anger, forget all of that for a minute and watch this.

Human Family

I note the obvious differences
in the human family.
Some of us are serious,
some thrive on comedy.

Some declare their lives are lived
as true profundity,
and others claim they really live
the real reality.

The variety of our skin tones
can confuse, bemuse, delight,
brown and pink and beige and purple,
tan and blue and white.

I've sailed upon the seven seas
and stopped in every land,
I've seen the wonders of the world
not yet one common man.

I know ten thousand women
called Jane and Mary Jane,
but I've not seen any two
who really were the same.

Mirror twins are different
although their features jibe,
and lovers think quite different thoughts
while lying side by side.

We love and lose in China,
we weep on England's moors,
and laugh and moan in Guinea,
and thrive on Spanish shores.

We seek success in Finland,
are born and die in Maine.
In minor ways we differ,
in major we're the same.

I note the obvious differences
between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.

These chrome hands are made of 2,976 birds that represent victims of 9/11 holding an I-beam from the WTC. It is a statue built to commemorate this day and is on display in Rosemead, CA.
