Make sure to remember to bring your i.d. to Barcade. The doorman asked to see mine and I am an old fart. I had no problem with it. The gentleman was just doing his job. I really like their old school video games. But it is hard to play when you can't hear the game over the music and other noise. I wish they had a couple pinball machines. Their selection of beers was excellent, but I really do not dig having to pay six bucks for a draft beer. Barcade has all the charm of a frat house or basement bar. It is a little dirty and super dark. Their bathrooms were nothing to write home about. You have to go to the bar to order drinks or food. I am not sure if they offer table service or not.

If you haven't heard of it. Barcade is exactly what the name says, a bar + an arcade. The service is great, I haven't been to any other location but this one doesn't have foreign beers. It will be way better having a bigger variety of beers

I have a skewed review because I was expecting more of a Dave & Busters-y type place. It has a ton of stand up arcade game consoles and if you are an aficionado, then this place is for you. The beers are also all craft beers, nothing on tap, and thus the beers were pretty expensive. Don't get me wrong, if your a wealthy kid who likes craft beers and stand up arcade games, do not shy away, but I was looking for more of a Stella draught and some ski-ball or air hockey, and thus, was slightly disappointed.

Video games and booze. Need I say more? Environment: 4/5 First off, I find it funny that people call this place a pub. I think geeky dive bar would be much more fitting descriptor. It's a pretty social venue and the crowd can be very different on any given night. The ambiance is very chill and relaxed. There's tons of arcades to choose from. Although, if you ask me, it couldn't hurt if they got a Marvel Vs. Capcom machine in there. My only minor gripe about this place is the hygiene. Compared to other bars in the downtown Jersey City area, this place can seem like a dump at times. It just doesn't seem like they clean that regularly. If I place my beer on top of an arcade machine, it shouldn't have a ring of dust at the bottom when I pick it up. Drinks: 3/5 I'm not much a beer connoisseur, but the mixed drinks can be a hit or miss. Some bartenders there make awesomely strong drinks, while others make you wonder if there's some sort of alcohol shortage. Service: 4/5 I've never ordered food from here, but the bartenders are pretty nice. Once you get up to the bar, someone will usually ask you what you want pretty quickly. Even on the busy nights they still manage to be pretty attentive. Price: 4/5 Unlike some places in Jersey City that have based their pricing models on NYC establishments, Barcade keeps things in the realm of reality and doesn't beat your pockets up too much. All in all, Barcade is an alcoholic gamer's utopia.

great games but old food. the food was heated up instead of cooked. I worked a Beer Pro there months ago and the food was banging, fresh and hot off the press (or so I thought) love the games, endless supply for beer. the bartender was clearly having a bad day.... not sure if I'll return unless my main objective is to play.

I've been here twice and I think this place is a lot more tolerable on a weeknight evening. I've never been a huge fan of video games so this place wouldn't appeal to me. The only game I recognized was tetris but my date told me they have Ms. Pacman. But after consuming a few jacks on the rocks and throwing back shots of Jameson the last thing I want to do is play archaic arcade games but they were good to lean on. On the weekends this place gets pretty packed. So beware unless that's your thing.

Only complaint is sometimes they feel understaffed with bar tenders on weekend nights. Beer selection is amazing and video games are cool

Food: I never had food here. Service: The bar gets packed at times and so sometimes its a challange to get drinks. But when you do get to the bar, the bartenders are very efficient and quick. Ambiance: The bar offers many arcades from the 1980s/90s and so its a great time to play some old games with your friends. It does get a little loud there so often you do have to scream to have a conversation. Price: The drinks are very reasonably priced. They offer a lot of craft beers and so they always have a decent selection of beers.
