Attention Toronto people and dog lovers!
Please share and help spread the word! We are appealing to the public for help in locating the owner of a young Boxer-type dog that may have been tossed over a fence into a locked play area at a public school in Milton on the evening of Friday, February 24th. We are also asking for anyone who may have witnessed the dog being left in the play area on one of the coldest nights this winter to come forward with any information regarding the incident.
The dog was discovered by HRPD patrolling the area around J.M. Denyes Public School at 215 Thomas Street in Milton when they found the dog in the locked children’s play area and notified the OMHS. Officer Leeson of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society removed the dog, taking it for immediate veterinary care. ‘He was in pretty rough shape, but let me pick him up, wagging his tail as he shivered in the cold’ said Officer Leeson.
The dog, a young un-neutered male white Boxer type dog has a very advanced case of Demodex Mange, a parasitic skin condition caused by mites. The dog is missing large patches of fur over his entire body, with sores and thickened reddened skin over most of his body. His right hind leg is fractured at the hip, leaving him without the ability to bear weight on the leg and in great pain. He is estimated to be between one and two years of age, white in colour, with a brown right eye and a blue left eye. The dog is currently under the care of a local veterinarian and its condition is still being fully assessed.
The dog was found at approximately 11:15pm on Saturday February 24th at J.M. Denyes Public School, 215 Thomas Street Milton. Anyone with information about the dog or the incident should call the Oakville & Milton Humane Society at 905-845-1551 ext 12. All witness information is confidential.
The Oakville Humane Society has a fund for his veterinary care: you can donate at their website (link below) and specify it is for him. You can also donate through Canadahelps.org - under the fund designation, choose 'help the neglected white boxer,' or, donate by mailing a cheque to the Oakville Humane Society at 445 Cornwall Rd, Oakville ON L6J 7S8 or by calling them at 905-845-1551 ext. 33 to donate over the phone by visa or mastercard.
