Good customer service can go a long way.
Just under a couple of weeks ago I took my son Sam to Clarks to get his annual check up and new school shoes. As it was a Sunday just before the summer holidays, the shop was packed and, on top of that, it turned out he needed 3 different pairs of shoes. All went well – we had a friendly ...

With its tiny wheels and a battery that’s the size of a thermos, the ride is so small it can tuck inside a backpack or under a desk, making it a cinch to take onto a subway, train or car. Parking isn’t even an issue when you can easily take it inside of a store or restaurant.

Real life has kinda warped me on # 10.  Sorry, Luke.  We can still be friends.
Books can leave a mark on you, etched in your mind. They can affect the way you think, and leave you different from those around you. Those who read fantasy have their own quirks, developed over years of exposure to talk of magic, wizards, and famous swords. How many of these apply to YOU? If …

Your company is NOT a meritocracy and you are NOT “gender-blind”

In 248 performance reviews of high-performers in tech, negative personality criticism (such as abrasive, strident, or irrational) showed up in 85% of reviews for women and just 2% of reviews for men. It is ridiculous to assume that 85% of women have personality problems and that only 2% of men do.

Because of the…well-documented differences in how men and women are perceived, training women to negotiate better and be more assertive is also not enough to solve this problem.

We're making better use of GitHub and Gitter. Read all about it :)
As we integrate more tightly with Gitter, it makes sense for us to also make better use of GitHub. We've ditched our old Field Guide articles in favor of our new GitHub-based Wiki, which allows for much easier article creat...

"By 1965, at age 19, McGee was an iconic image of California culture. Even today, 50 years after the women’s National Skateboard Champion was featured on the cover of Life magazine, the image of a teenager with a bouffant hairdo performing a handstand on a moving skateboard captures the essence of wholesome, effortless cool. McGee, the first woman inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame, started skating back when it was barely a sport — in the early 1950s, when sidewalk surfers rode homemade and often unsafe boards cobbled together from roller skate parts. Originally more focused on surfing, McGee dabbled in and then switched over to skateboards long before the craze was dominated by droopy-trousered teenage boys."
This is the woman who wheeled her way to stardom.

This restaurant has ruined all pizzerias for me. Unlike many others, when they say wood-fired pizza, they *mean* wood-fired - it isn't just an added flavor. Their ingredients taste fresh, and their pasta isn't just a noodley version of their pizza. If you like food with a Mediterranean flare, this is one place you don't want to miss!
